Question about Acer PC Desktops

My ACER computer, which is covered by extended warranty, is in need of repair. "Easy Care" says I must post it,at my own expense, to Sydney. The postage cost is unfortunately prohibitive-I cannot afford it. Does this mean my financial shortcomings make my ACER warranty void? Geoff Fulton

Any repair cost outside a warranty period is the owner's responsibility. Most printers and scanner, in fact just about everything to do with computers,are not built for repair but replacement. The cost associated with repairing computer devices and peripherals makes the task impractical. Get a free quote first but I would confidently say the answer would be "Not worth repairing. Buy a new one"

I bought an Acer Aspire M3400 in September of 2010. I t has been back to the dealer twice in 9 months. Right off the start I could NOT send anything to the c-drive, which is the main one as you know. I was...

I have a few suggestions for you regarding this scenario.
First of all, if the unit is in good working order currently, you don't really have a warranty claim. With your factory warranty expiring soon, I totally understand your concerns once the warranty runs out. Typically, they will do the absolute cheapest method to "fix' (like using refurbished parts, using 2nd quality new parts) the PC to get you outside your warranty period. Then they will happily offer you repair options that make a new PC look pretty appealing.
There are a couple of media options for severe cases of negelct, two of which are in magazines I subscribe to. If you send your explanation of events to them, frequently they are able to shame/leverage/embarrass their customer support into helping you.

If none of these options work, you might protect yourself with an extended warranty. While I don't buy warranties on everything, I think you should try to protect yourself once the factory warranty runs out.
While Acer certainly has warranties for sale, there are other options, like SquareTrade ( which are independent of the manufacturer, and are usually significantly less expensive. While I am not sure how long after your purchase you can still buy a squaretrade warranty, I would recommend them over the manufacturer option.
If none of these options appeal to you, you may decide to just chalk this up to a lemon, use it as long as you can, then replace it. I don't personally recommend Acer, but this is a matter of opinion, and I think individual product lines (from many companies) are more indicative of quality than choosing based on a brand name.

Your Acer Aspire computer system is not POSTing, or passing the Power On Self Test.

Claim warranty support before trying the following as opening the chassis in some cases voids current warranty.

Open the side panel of the computer chassis and remove the RAM modules. Clean the gold fingered connectors of the RAM modules with tissue paper. Once completed clean the actual RAM slots/dimms on the mainboard. Carefully use a vacuum cleaner.

Reinstall the RAM modules in the correct orientation. Power on the computer system.

Your computer's monitor is not receiving a signal from the computer. Your computer is not POSTing, is has failed the Power On Self Test.

Push in all connections within the computer chassis, it is more than likely though that a component has died and therefore needs to be replaced. Claim warranty support if you can. Either you or a computer technician will have to diagnose the faulty component and replace it.
Take it to a computer store to diagnose the fault, it will be cheaper than if the technician has to come to you.

Most computer manufacturers offer a 1-yr limited warranty. If you have had the desktop for more than a year and have not purchased an extended warranty, chances it's probably not.

Missing Network Icon From Device Manager

This is most likely a hardware problem. Your network adapter is probably faulty, therefore the system does not recognize it.

You can try to reinstall it, but if the system is not recognizing it now, the chances of it recognizing the device during install are low. I have included a link to the driver download if you choose to attempt to reinstall the device.

If reinstalling the device does not work, you have a couple of options. The easiest and least expensive would be to install a new ethernet adapter. These can be purchased at many computer and electronics stores and are fairly easy to install and configure. If your PC is under warranty, you can contact Acer for a warranty repair.

Yes, you can purchase extended warranty. The easiest way is to contact HP customer care and ask them for this. Later their sales team will call you and tell you the offer details.

My labtop screen is cracked on my acer is it possible for me to send it in to acer an have it repaired. if so where do i send it?

Your screen can be fixed by Acer but you'll have to pay for the service.Cracked screens are not covered under the typical manufacturer warranty.You'll have to call Acer to get a quote on how much it will cost to have that fixed.Call them on 800-816-2237.It is sometimes better to get a new laptop if it will cost too much to fix it.
