Question about BenQ FP731 17" LCD Monitor
Either it had three verital stipes running top to bottom on the left side
or it is solid dark blue from left side
or solid black and flickers right side
exactlyg 50% of the screen
I pluged in a 17 lcd into the laptop and it works fine
is it the lcd in the laptop or something else like the inverter?
The inverter board regulates the power to the LCD backlight, it doesn't affect the display, just the light.
From my experience I would say that either your LCD cable is damaged or maybe partially unplugged, or the LCD itself is damaged.
The first step would be to unplug the LCD ribbon cable and then plug it back in making sure that it is properly aligned and well seated. Does the LCD now work? If not, try getting another cable off... you know, that auction website (I don't give them free ads) and see if that works.
If it's not the cable then you can be pretty sure that it's the LCD as you have already said that it works on an external monitor so it's not the video card.
Hope this helps.
