Generic problem for all Receivers

Installed new Sony mono amp

Installed new Sony mono amp and sub along with new head unit. (Sony). Worke for a while, now sub does not work. Getting power to amp. Checked with test light and and also remote has power coming in. Amp lights up but NO sound coming out. Unit has LPF and is set to off. Tried different RCA leads but got same result. it is in a 2003 Xterra. 8 gauger wire. Grounded to car seat attachment beneath carpet in back of car. Tried by passing ground and using different one. Held wire to suspension spring and to ground connection of amp. May not have been good enough, but it got no results. ANY ideas of what to check and how? Sony just said that it was bad RCA hook ups and then said to send it back. I just do not think that it is a faulty amp, could be wrong though.

- It is a SONY XM-1S. there is no floating ground. the amp itself is grounded to the car seat attachment bolts in the rear compartment of the XTerra. Should i attach a ground from the speaker leads? If I remember, the amp in my truck has a ground screw attached to the body of the amp for the speaker lead, where would the other end attach?

It did work at first, now it does not. There is no movement in the cone. I tried 2 diferent subs with no result. They both worked when hooked to my truck amp.

What model amp are you using? Does this amp use floating ground for the speaker leads? Do you get any speaker cone movement when amp is first powered?
