Question about RaidMax (ATX-612WBP) ATX Mid-Tower Case

1 Answer

Raidmax 500w power slowly died, then wont turn back on.

I had my computer off, surge protector off and everything unplugged for 3 days when I got home from my trip I plugged it all back in turned my computer on and did my usual routine, went on facebook, myspace, then as browsed facebook and clicked a link to my friends profile my comp slowed then the screen and mouse went out, I know my mouse went dead because its a laser and the light went out, I couldnt turn caps on or off on my keyboard. Then after about 15 seconds it died. and it wouldnt turn back on, when I press power nothing happens. When I unplug it then replug it in, and then press power, all the blue lights come on for about .5 seconds and the fan does about a fourth of a rotation then it turns off again.

Im not sure why its doing this, I highly doubt its a virus. The mother board light is on. Its a raidmax smilodon, im running vista and its a 500w power supply, all standard things with the raidmax smilodon, Ive had the computer witth zero problems for months now, and ive gone away and unplugged it all many times before this without this happening. Any help please?

1.-Your CPU fan is working?

2.-Your Power supply fan is working?

If not and following your description I think that you have to replace your power supply.

If you have the light on in the motherboard doesn't mean that your power supply is good.

Check the first to points above and if 1 and 2 are not working

Replace your power supply.

Let me know how it is going!

Hi,

Were there any storms in the area and did you have it plugged in to a surge protector? It definitely seems to have some power. I would try plugging it in to a different surge protector. If that doesn't work you may have to work with Xerox support as their may be damage if there was a surge.

Got a new surge protector/power strip. I

Hi

Please try the monitor without the surge protector to ensure there are no isues with the protector

If the monitor comes on you know its the protector, if it still fails then i recommned the following

1) ensure the fuse in the plug is ok and not blown
2) Change the 3 pin power socket for another one

If after this all fails then for some reason something has blown in your monitor and you will need to book it in for further inspection

If this has been useful please leave positive feedback/vote/testimonial as this will help me greatly - Thank You again

Try unplugging the computer completely from the wall for 15 minutes. Plug it back in, and see if it will power on.

If it doesn't it's most likely a blown power supply, when the breaker tripped, everything on the circuit basically fed back into everything plugged in. This is something most computer power supplies do NOT like.
The good news is, a power supply is generally pretty cheap, you can get new power supplies atarting around 20 bucks, although decent quality ones are closer to 50 bucks. Bad news is, there is about a 1 in 20 chance the power supply took other parts with it.
Once you do get it running, or get another computer, make sure to get a surge protector strip and plug everything connected to the computer into the surge protector. A 15 dollar surge protector can save you 150 dollars in parts and labor. (or more)

Dynex Te685avr backup battery doesnt work

If the battery outlets do not work, typically the Dynex TE685AVR UPS (battery backup) just needs a new battery. These batteries usually last 3-5 years.

The model of the battery is a WKA12-7.5F2 and can be purchased at: http://www.replacementupsbattery.com/Product_pages/wka12-75f2.html.
