Since there is no recycle bin then the only option is to use commercially available data recovery software that will find hidden files on the memory card. When you delete a file it is not gone the first time unless it is overwritten so it will be hidden and you can use the data recovery software to find those files and undelete them.

Delete memory card

The best way to delete everything from your memory card is to format it.
The format command is in the Setup menu. See page 37 of the manual: http://www.olympusamerica.com/files/oima_cckb/STYLUS-7020_MJU-7020_STYLUS-7010_MJU-7010_Instruction_Manual_EN.pdf

How do I get the write protect off my card

If you're using an Olympus TG-820, look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

When I try to delete a picture/video it says WRITE PROTECT with a ! point

Hi there, Can you take pictures on it? It sounds like the SD card is locked. If you take the SD card out, you should see a slider on one of the sides. Push it up to unlock the card - then you should be able to delete. If it is already up, then there is a write protect option on your camera you need to disable. Alex

Need to recover deleted photos

You can often successfully recover deleted files from a PC, phone or camera memory card or USB Memory stick, it just depends on what's happened since the files were deleted.
When you delete files the data itself isn't deleted, just the index entry that says where the data for those files is located. The space containing the deleted files is also now marked as free space so it is available to the system for any new files to be written there instead.

If and when that happens, then it becomes too late to recover your deleted files so it is very, very important to not save any new files or data to the device concerned.
If the deleted files are on a memory card or USB memory stick, just don't save any new files to it.

One of the easiest ways to see if you can recover deleted photos is to try some file recovery software. Recommended asoftech photo recovery as it saved my life many times.

Have you formatted the card in the camera before trying to use it? (download any pictures still on the card using a card reader if necessary).

Can I recover deleted files from the reader

Yes,
I think u can...
But only till u don't write any other files onto the card after deleting the files.

i.e. don't write any other file on the memory from which u delete the files until u recover them, else the recovery won't be that effective
