Question about Sony KP-65WS500 65" Rear Projection Television

2 Answers

Kp65ws510 I have the exact same issue with my kp65ws510. My screen looks exactly as deformed as yours. It has the techs at my local TV shop stumped. They have been working on it for almost a month now. Replaced the ICs twice, all the pico fuses, and the HV wires... still not fixed. Were you able to resolve the issue?

If convergence ICs are changed and pico fuses are changed, if the colors are still bad, check the resistors connected to STKs. Make sure you check there values with a good DMM. But if all there are good, power regulators ICs are good. The stdby power supply is controlled through D board and if the set is not comming on and the light is blinking its most likely the d board. all caps need to be checked with a good ESR meter. Hopefully you are able to resolve the issue. More specific diagnostics can be done using the service manual flow charts. If you dont have one download it from tech support on fixya site. Also check out for FAQs.

No I have not resolved the issue yet. I had them test my D-Board again and they say it is fine. I was going to check the fuses next but you say that wasn't the problem with yours. I'm not sure what to do now..

47led55sa half the screen is black

Hello Kathy, now since i dont have a picture of the screen i cannot tell exactly what is wrong, but if i had to take a well educated guess it would be that one of the wired that feed into the screen is damaged or faulty . Take it to your local tech shop and they can fix this problem easily, though rates differ from place to place i would give a rough assumtion of $25-$30 for a proper fix. Hope this helped ;)

I have a simple suggestion which will tell you exactly why the picture looks yellow.

It requires no parts or special tools but I need to know if you can follow simple instructions?

This is not an uncommon problem and if you require further help I can explain exactly what to do and what to look for.

I have a LCD tv and I have bars that consist of pink and white dots and a solid pink line on the right half of the screen. What is it and what can I do to fix it. My tv is a samsung model LN-T4681F

Regarding this issue you might have an issue with your analog video board, or digital video board, probably one of these parts is not sending exact image that it's receiving, You might want to check with a tech that can check the TV physically. Hope i could be on assistance.

I have a sony bravia flat screen tv. Often i hear a "pop up" sound from back of tv. What could cause this?

I quite certain that this is the Back Light Lamp Ballast power supply that may be causing this pop. If it's still under warranty. Best to call the local Sony Service shop and see if they can look at this to alleviate future major issues.
Blessings always,

Sony KDF50E2000 Had the bulb changed by a tech. Mar. 2009, in the last few days the message flashes change bulb on the screen, is this something programed into the TV to come on at a certain number of user...

YES, the tech forgot to reset the counter it is in the menu, sorry i don't know exactly where on your model but it should not be hard to find. The blotches are dust in the light engine, this is not fixable unless you replace the light engine. check with a sony authorized repair shop, some of these optics blocks may still be under warranty!! - even if the set is not.

Mitsubishi vs-4552A

Call your local TV shops and ask if they have any 45 or 50" screens in the bone pile you could purchase. You should come up with something for a reasonable price $35 to $50 in good to excellent condition. You can cut down the screen to fit if you cant get the exact size. Good luck!

Picture looks 3d

It is hard to see, but it looks like your red color has shifted to the right. In most projection sets there are 2 large convergence IC's which put the 3 colors exactly where they are supposed to be on the screen. When one color is way off, giving the 3D effect, and you are unable to line the colors up using the convergence menu, it means that one of the convergence IC's has burned out. This is one of the most common failures in standard projection sets. The burned out IC should be replaced and the convergence circuits realigned by a qualified tech familiar with projection sets.
