It won't power up.

Try clicking the mouse or space bar. also try holding the power button in for 10 seconds and then push it again. You can unplug it and plug it back in again then hit the power button. If that doesn't work might be your power supply

Monitor blank even though power is on

Totally shut down all power to the PC and remove any connected devices such as a mouse or external hard drive. SHUT DOWN by holding power button long enough to actually hear the PC shutdown.
It is a "fizzling" signal.
Also disconnect power sources that are plugged in. They are not shut down when they still have a power source.
Take a decent break.
Then one by one restore power to the charger, the PC, any other devices (including a printer).
Often this solves the problem. Good luck.

I have a gateway gx7022e windows xp computer. When i try to boot it up the white letters pop up then the screen goes to the gateway screen and freezes. Then my num lock comes on but my keyboard wont work....

At power on / power up, look for the key during the bootup (black screen with white text), that allows you to enter SETUP. If none designated such as F1, F2 F10 etc, then quickly click the delete button a few times and that may get you into setup. You may have to turn off the computer if you miss that window of time if it rfequires pressing the delete button a few times. Keep an eye out for the Enter Setup key though. To turn off the computer press and hold the power button 'till is shuts down and resart the process until you get to the setup screen in bios. In setup bios environment, look for set factory defaults and then save and restart. That may solve the issue of the lockup.

Acerpower SV PC will Not turn off

More information would help to resolve this issue.

Are you shutting down by selecting Start and shutdown or have you tried pushing the power button on push (not holding the power button)?

Try this:
Press and hold the power button in solidly for about 10 seconds. If it shuts down before you get to 10 just let off the power button. This should work, but may not solve the problem.

If you reboot it and still can not shut down from Windows, hold power button until it shuts down, unplug the power cord and disconnect everything from the computer other than the keyboard, mouse and monitor. With the power plug still unplugged, hold the power button in for about 15 seconds (this resets the power supply and can clear a corrupt BIOS).

Reconnect power and after booting, see if you can shut down from Windows.

If still no go, click Start, Programs, Accessories, System tools and select System Restore.

Follow the prompts and select a bold date back to a time before you had problems shutting down. That should do the trick.

Let me know if you get it fixed or if you need more advice.
