Check for screws at the back of the hinges and undo them if present. Tilt screen back to allow hinge covers to clear. Pry gently, but firmly, with a non metalic pry tool at the edge of the hinge covers to start the panel loosening, Working gently with the pry tool, pry along the edges of the power button panel to remove it.

Replace power button gateway sx 2311

Computer unplugged from power, FOLLOW Anti-Static Precautions.

1) Remove the Side Panel.
Viewing the computer from the Front; the Right Side Panel removes. Remove screw, pull Side Panel to the rear of the computer.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883113140

Click on the large main photo.
There are 9 smaller views shown. 3 across, and 3 rows.
Bottom row, click on the photo in the Middle.
Shows Rear view of computer.

Along the back edge of the Side Panel, is a finger pull handle formed out of the Side Panel. There also looks to be two screws. One above the pull handle, one down towards the bottom.

2) Remove the Front Bezel.
Click on the Middle row/middle photo.
Also look at Middle row, 3rd photo. (Photo all the way to right)

There are 3 Black tab locks, formed out of the plastic of the Front Bezel. One towards the Top, one in the Middle, and one towards the Bottom.

If memory serves these tabs are gently pulled to the outside, to release the Front Bezel. Ease the Top tab out a little, and Middle tab.

Start easing the Front Bezel away from the metal framework, of the computer case, a little. Then release the Bottom tab.
Front Bezel should swing, and then come off.

Not your Gateway model of computer case, but this Gateway model shows the plastic Tabs to release,

http://support.gateway.com/s/CASES/3501975/3501975faq6.shtml

The Power On Button is an assembly. The plastic housing of the Power On Button assembly, has a Power On switch inside.
I gently heat the plastic with a hair dryer, moving the hair dryer back, and forth at it.

Once the tabs of the plastic, of the Power On Button assembly, is softened; then I remove the Power On switch.

I have found this ATX power on switch, fits a LOT of desktop computers,

My Gateway notebook, model : 4535GZ doesn't see any drives upon boot-up. I went into setup and I don't know all the info to manually input the hard drive or CD drive. The hard drive is an Fujitsu,...

@bevrog

If you see the Fujitsu HDD model#: MHU2100AT. under BIOS setup, that means the HDD is there but the operating system is not loading up. Try the following:

1. Run System Recovery (turn the computer ON and press the F11 key simultaneously) - take note that this will erase everything and you'll start from scratch.
2. If you have a Recovery Discs, press F12 simultaneously upon boot-up and choose to boot from the CD/DVD drive
3. If a System Recovery Window came up (see image below), then proceed and wait until it restore Windows.

If you don't get an image similar to the screen above, and you get an error like PXE Error Media State Media Disconnected, or 0x000000E or "An I/O Error occured" - this is a sign that your HDD is already failing and needs to be replaced. If you're still under warranty, call gateway support at 1-800-846-2000.

Good luck.

How do I change the internal battery in Gateway 4535?

Hi

Thank you for your query

Unless you have worked with latops before I would not recommned that you change the CMOS battery yourself as ti involves going down to motherboard level and this can be really tricky in some instances

Please book your laptop into a reputbale PC shop to swap the battery out for you

I hope this has been useful

I need the bios and flash program for a gateway 4535gz I suspect it has a bios virus because a fresh install of windows XP pro and symantec anti virus and drivers (all freshly downloaded) becomes corrupted...

There is no such thing as a BIOS virus. However, there are such things are boot sector viruses. Before you reinstall XP again, wipe the hard drive completely by deleting and recreating the primary partition.

Replacing Power Button Circuit Card on Gateway W730 K8X Laptop

The instructions for replacing the keyboard include the cover you have to remove to replace the power button pcb. The power button pcb is attached to the bottom of the bezel that covers the hinges/button array. In a nutshell you just remove the 2 screws indicated in the instructions, pry the hinge covers up a bit, then gently pry the bezel up from the bottom. remove the ribbon cable, pull back the small piece of tape, remove the three small screws holding the pcb on, and remove it from the spring clips.

Plug in battery, power light and fan noise cycles on and off

I think it probably went into hibernate. Remove the battery while unplugged from the a/c adaptor for a few minutes. Plug it into the a/c adaptor, and see if it will boot up.

Gateway 503gr power switch

if you are a practical person, the power on switch is the crudest item ever on a pc. The switch simply completes a circuit. If you look on you motherboard at the front panel connector cables, you will see the two that go to the power on switch. remove them, flash a small screw driver across the terminals and it will come to life

Laptop freezes when it is moved and the backlight is pinkish

Although, you should have this one looked at by a qualified Laptop technician...the most likely culprits are:

1) bad harddrive or harddrive needs to be reseated
2) bad ram or needs to be reseated
3) on soem laptops there is an access panel on the back for a video card...these get loose...and some have two small wires that snap on the board...check those.
4) lastly, the cable that attaches the LCD to the motherboard. This will not be easy for the novice to find...you will have to remove the bezel and probably the keyboard...don't attempt unless you are confident.

Good luck.
