Question about Dell Dimension 2400 PC Desktop
I push the power button in and both lights come on. It then starts to boot up and then shuts right off
The problem kamper_1957 is having with Amber power light is not a standby issue but a low voltage issue in the computer. Replacing the power supply would be the easiest and cheaper item to try first. If that doesn't resolve it then the next suspect culprit would be the motherboard. I've also see broken USB port connecters short out the voltage and cause the power button to be Amber and not Green.

At the beginning of the reboot cycle watch your screen for the option( F button)"Press F? to enter setup. You'll be in DOS mode. Look for or navigate to the "Boot/start Win. in safe mode." If this gets your OS up, go to system tools and start the "system recovery utility. Choose a date that takes you back when the unit was working properly and click restore, if all goes well the system will reboot in normal mode and things should be back to normal. We could talk about the issue being a virus or malware, but, will cross that bridge when we get there, try what I suggested first and see if you get results, its times like this I wish I could be there personally, alas, this will have to do for now.
