Please check all the lights that are in the chassis hitachi puts led in the chassis so that if one of the lights are not working then u know that circuit is bad. now there is 2 things that hit has wroung in the units and that is a 2kv hv cap of the horiz output transistor that burns up and kill the power supply look for a small black or brown fuse it will not have glass on it it is rt behind the reg ic in the center of the chassis it allwas opens up because of the hv cap doonot run the tv without out that cap it will overload the horiz drive and will burn upo the horiz output but u have a very good ctv ther if u fix it will last u a long time and it is a very easy tv to trouble shoot.

I believe this set has two relays in the power supply. One for standby power and one for full power. I have seen cases where the full power relay drops out or not energise causing the same symptom you describe. Lightly tapping on the relay sometimes identifies the culprit.
Hope this helps
This looks like a problem related to your High Voltage Protection circuit. This circuit shuts the TV down when it senses a high current condition (a short in a vital circuit). It may not involve extensive repairs, but it will involve some repair work. I can give you a better diagnosis if you do a few things for me.
1) unplug the TV and take the lower rear panel off 2) look at the back of the panel or in the TV for a chart showing you the diagnostic LEDs 3) Look at see if LED D912 is red or not (this may differ in your model, if so write down the numbers of all the diagnostic LEDs and there condition on or off red or green. 4)post these in a reply to this topic.
Once this is done I'll be able to give you some idea of how extensive this may be.
I have the same problem with mine. i,m pretty sure that it is the built in surge protector is bad. Try unplugging the tv for 30 seconds then plug it back in and turn it on. If your surge protector has not completely gone bad this might work a few times. mine won't turn on at all anymore.
