If you take the TV and lay it flat on its face, then you will be able to get the whole back cover off. Once the back cover is removed, and with the TV still on its face, there will be some a large circuit board sticking up in the air from what is normally the bottom of the TV. At this point you may want to tip the TV back onto its bottom (so the screen is showing again). Now, on the right side of the circuit board, near a couple things that look like large batteries sticking up, will be the two IC chips. They are about an inch long and maybe half an inch wide. They are only a couple inches from each other. Hope this helps you locate them.
Nowadays CRT's do not have good quality shadow masks anymore. After heating up a little they can give a so called "blooming" effect giving a blue an yellow leaf effect large over the screen. Reason nonparallelity in deformation of the shadow mask.
