Can't help you with what you might have knocked or damaged while replacing the slave cylinder.

A slave cylinder is an uncomplicated piece of kit that usually gives good service for many years and few things shorten that life. One of these is using fluid that is incompatible with the seal, another is overtravelling and a third is corrosion.

When the first replacement failed it would be usual to dismantle the failed cylinder to discover the cause of failure, which with only (usually) a single seal to examine would be fairly obvious and might or might not be a reason for a warranty claim.

I'm certain that there is an "official" test for this sensor. I generally quick check by attaching a volt meter set to millivolts to the sensor leads and check for a pulse voltage when cranking. If in doubt and you don't want to spend big$ on the part, you can get an entire distributor at a scrap yard likely for half of the price of the new sensor.

Pull the plugs and compare them to the pictures in repair manual, ie: Chilton's or Hayne's. May be a bad injector flooding them or an intake leak causing a lean condition.

It sounds like your new crank sensor is defective. It should be under warranty.

Maybe a clogged fuel filter....easy to replace. If no better, check the compression in each cylinder. If it's normal (>100psi), I think you are probably on the right track with electricals--it's probably the points/condenser and/or the spark plug wires. See if replacing these doesn't help.

Engine won't start

the spark plug wires can be confusing but a 4 cylinder is not that hard from the front of the engine being where the pulleys & belts are its 1,2,3,4 on the coil or distributor it can be in counter or clockwise rotation 1&3,2&4 or 1&4,2&3 likely its 1&3,2&4 hope you find this helpful

If it won't crank, check clutch safety switch and cables for the starter.
If it cranks but won't start, you'll need to find out if it is ignition or fuel to know where to look next.

Slave cylinder troubleshooting

I'd be happy to help you solve your problem, but you kind of sow confusion. So I ask, does the engine crank over at its normal starting speed when you try to start it? And despite the heading reference to the clutch slave cyliinder, the problem is the car won't start? I'll tell you where to start troubleshooting every problem with the car not firing up. That is to check the battery's present condition. If the battery is low on charge you cannot rely on any further testing. So have the battery charged up or check it with a voltmeter to see if it needs charging. Is your problem a one time problem, or any events leading up to this that may have effect? If the engine started and ran fine before, and you heard no noise of an abrupt failure, then it most likely lost either fuel or spark (ignition) to the cylinders.

Check the slave cylinder is coming out when you push the clutch down ,without my head under the bonnet its difficult to say but either you have lost the fluid or the thrust bearing has now pushed through the pressure plate with the correct pressure .

My 1998 Honda civic ex won't move but the motor

Have you just replaced the clutch? Taken out the transaxle, and put it back in? Are you sure transmission was in good condition before this? If so, review your procedure carefully to be sure you got it all back right.
Watch the slave cylinder while someone depresses clutch. You should see the little plunger move slightly out and move the clutch lever back. The lever moves the release bearing inside bell housing into contact with the pressure plate. If slave cylinder doesn't move at all, try bleeding again. The plunger has to move when clutch is engaged.
I'm not sure what you mean by "will shift but won't go into gear". You mean it's actually going into a gear position and car won't move? Or it won't go into any gear, period. As if you had no clutch?

Fuel pressure at idle is normally 30-35psi. Start by taking the gas cap off, and putting it back on. That will De-pressurize the fuel system. Also, make sure you have gas in the car. I have seen gauges on these cars read wrong. I hope this helps.
