SOURCE: my canon printer/copier does not feed paper in

1. Try cleaning the paper feed rollers

Instructions how to clean the paper feed rollers.
If the paper feed rollers become dirty, they may not be able to properly feed paper due to the feed roller's slippage.
If paper does not feed correctly, perform the following to clean the paper feed rollers:

  1. Open the Printers folder.

    - For Windows XP Home Edition : Click/Select 'Start,' 'Control Panel,' 'Printers and Other Hardware,' and 'Printers and Faxes.

    - For Windows XP Professional Edition : Click 'Start' and 'Printers and Faxes.'

    - For Windows Vista : Click 'Start,' 'Control Panel,' 'Hardware and Sound,' and 'Printers.'

    - For Windows 2000 : Click/Select 'Start,' and 'Settings,' then 'Printers.'
  2. Right-click the icon of the printer for paper feed roller cleaning, and select 'Properties' from the displayed list.
  3. Click the 'Maintenance' tab and click 'Roller Cleaning'.

Remove all sheets of paper from the rear tray, then click 'OK'.
  4. Confirm the message, and click 'OK'.
Note: Clicking 'OK' will activate the paper feed rollers 30 times. This activation will take about 90 seconds. Do not perform other operations until this operation has finished.
  5. Confirm the message, and click 'OK'.

After the continuous paper feeding operations in step 5 have finished, load three sheets of plain paper and click 'OK'.

  6. Confirm the message, and click 'OK'.

Note: “Feed roller cleaning is completed” message is displayed when the paper is fed and ejected.

    Click 'OK'.
Roller Cleaning is completed.

How do you take out the registration roller to replace the roller guide? Canon pc-425 fb2-9596-000

You have to take off the top cover. There are tabs all around the outside and there are two tabs on the inside one is on the left under the cover where you insert the paper the other is on the right right before the white lever. I will try to post photos.

I have a Canon PC425 copier which pulls the paper in part way, and then says it has a paper jam. There is no jam, and repeated switching on and off gives the same result. Is there a fix for this?

I have same problem, but I order spring and new bushing, but I am unable to free side by the gears so I can replace bushing. Were you able to fix this problem?

Canon pc 940 no paper pick up and a signal of P in the display panel

You may have a blockage in the paper feed path, or a worn out paper feed roller, or a faulty paper feed drive clutch / drive mechanism.

Can you see if the paper feed roller rotates in contact with the paper?

Are you using plain paper?

Paper jams - we got copied from mom that passed away - no manual. We don't know what the symbols mean. Trying to score a manual but immediate problem is that paper stops feeding. Error message says there's...
Unfortunately, I can't direct you where to score a manual either. The jam in this case means that paper did not travel far enough into the copier within the correct amount of time. It is possible to clean the feed roller, (with enough patience) I suggest using IPA (rubbing alcohol). Hope this helps.

Canon pc 420 paper feeds only part way

I had the same problem. I found a parts diagram here which showed that the springs hold the bar down. On mine, on each side, one of the spring tabs was broken.

I made a metal pin for one side and insert a screw on the other. Be sure and wrap the spring over the nylon bushing.

Paper will not feed from drawer

Pull the paper tray out of the machine. On the right side underneath you should see a rubber paper feed roller. Clean this off with a slightly damp cloth until it is "squeaky clean". Also, look about to be sure there is nothing blocking the paper path. Sometimes paper gets torn off and left in the machine when clearing a jam.

I'm suddenly getting uniform black lines on copies when using my canon pc 425 monochrome personal copier

remove toner cartridge, and look at the drum (on the bottom of cartridge). If there are toner streaks on it, it is failing and needs to be replaced.

*please rate me :)
