If finding the right software is an issue, perhaps using a USB card reader to access the images on the SD card frome the camera is an option. It's a little more effort, but works quite well and doesn't require a special driver since the images are probably in JPEG format. Just access the files on the card as though it was a flash drive or any other type of storage device.

My samsung digimax d53 will not let me put pictures on the computer with its usb cord

Consider NOT using the USB connection.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

There are also plenty of photo catalog software packages out there, some free, some not, that can transfer and catalog your pictures so you can quickly find pictures from Susie's birthday party, for example. Just do a google search for "photo catalog software".

I would suggest using a card reader. It saves on camera batteries and they download faster too.
