Question about Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1: Windows

Vista and HP all-in-one 2610

I know many people have the same problems but, so far, I have not seen any solution. I have been corresponding with HP support for months but to no avail. Here is the problem: if you try to print photos from any application under Vista to the HP2610 the whole print queue is lost the moment you select photo paper. A4 is alright but not photo paper. Please note there is an updated set of drivers and applications for Vista out there and that is exactly what I installed. You can print text, graphics, etc. as long as you use normal paper. HP asked me to uninstall and reinstall the driver sw following a very convoluted procedure but at the end asked me to install the drivers for the HP990C. That did not work either. I have two HP2610 and they still work well under XP and Linux and I really do not feel like buying new printers at this time. Any ideas?

If the option is there, usually when you have an OS disk there is a repair option. Try that and see how far it gets you.

The good news is that your Canon iP8500 printer is Windows Vista compatible. Driver page for them is here:

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=357&modelid=10440

More good news, the Epson Perfection 1650 scanner is also compatible with Windows Vista.

It would also appear that your HP Laser Jet 5mp printer is compatible with Windows Vista:

Whether or not to get a Dell or HP is a preference thing. The biggest thing you have to ask yourself is, how much are you wanting to spend on a new system? Both vendors are fairly comparable as far as hardware and support. The biggest thing I should mention is that, ensure that when you buy your system, to tell whomever you are buying it from that you need Windows Vista 32 bit. Not all of your components were compatible with Vista 64 bit.
Best of Luck and hope you have lots of fun with your new system!

Nero installation problem

If you have a version below 7, then Nero will not work with Vista. It was a well known issue with Vista and a reason why some people I know wouldn't upgrade to it.
