Microphone problem Vista Home Premium

I have had a Fujitsu-Siemens notebook for a few months running Vista Home Premium. Everything went quite alright for a while until people talking to me via e.g. Skype started telling me that my voice was fading away and (sometimes) coming back. I thought at first a problem with the mike but then I noticed that any microphone, external or internal, was continuously being output onto the speakers or headphones whether or not there was an application using the mike. Sometimes, when no external headphones/mike are connected there is a very annoying feedback noise. This did not occur at the beginning and the problem with Skype started exactly at the same time. Another thing I have just noticed is that there are two "loudspeaker" icons in the taskbar: the usual Windows one and a red Realtek one. I am not sure, however, whether or not this was the case when everything worked properly. I still have problems finding my way around in Vista. Could you please help?

Supplemental: I have figured out what part of the problem was. The mike's output volume was at its max but the Realtek audio console program had somehow disappeared. After reinstalling it that bit seems to be resolved. Now the worst part remains: the mike sound is badly distorted and sounds as if I spoke out of a metal tube. This happens over the web (Skype) as well as on a local loop (sound recorder). I have not benn able to solve it, Could it be a codec problem? Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Xi1546

first start by downgrading to windows xp,then only upgrade you ram to 1gb then go to control panel and uninstall all the unnessacary files.

windows vista is generally a very slow program because it uses alot of space,xp is going to improve your speed and also dont load office 2007,rather load office 2003 its smaller and faster.

I need an activation key for my windows vista home premium

If you installed Vista from a box that you recently purchased then the key is on a yellow label on the back of the pull out section. If your PC originally had Vista and the label was on the bottom of the machine then Microsoft should it with your registration.
