Question about Sony KDF-42WE655 Television

Blue dots on LCD screen

The blue dots started as a small circle of dots in the middle of the screen. Withing days, there were more dots and now they are spread out all over, but concentrated on the middle of the screen. What can we do?? Our TV is only about 3 years old and we do not wish to buy a new one,as we spent over $2500 for this one. We replaced the lamp about 4 months ago. This dot thing just started about 3-4 weeks ago. please help!

I called Sony and they said it is the Optical block that went bad. They are willing to extend my warranty and cover the cost of repair ($1000) at no cost to me. They also offered to replace the TV with a choice of 3 new ones at reduced costs. they ranged from 42-46" all flat screen, LCD, HD latest Sony technology at a cost from $300 to $523. These new TV's do not have a lamp to replace, nor do they have an optical block to go bad. We opted to purchase a new 46" TV (retails $2500) for $523., with free shipping. Deal was too good to pass up. If we choose to repair our old one, the costs are on us because we took the new TV deal.

You will most likely need to replace the panel. You will have to contact Sony and they will send a Factory Trained Technician to your home to replace it. Since you are not on Factory Warranty this repair will cost you. You may find it cheaper just to replace the television.

Did somebody stick their thumb on that part of the screen, and their fingers on the back, in order to pickup the monitor? If so, they damaged the screen.

Call 'CSI: Miami', and get them to take fingerprints. :-)

Kf-42610 blue hue and blue dots on screen

Hi Guys

The Blue dots or discolouration you are seeing is due too the Blue LCD screen having cracked from excessive heat. This normally happens when you have a power failure while the Television was on. This obviously because the Blue LCD sits next to the lamp - the main cause of heat. The correct part number on the 60" is A-1086-952-A. It is very, very ,expensive.

Sorry to have been the bearer of bad news. Good luck : )
