Did you ever get a solution to your Mitsubishi TV color problem? We are having the same problem as you. We replaced our bulb about a month ago and now all of a sudden the color fades away and it starts blinking in and out. Our TV is a little over a year old also. I have the same tv and the same problem (color banding, incorrect colors, colors blinking) occured after I replaced the lamp. I had a tv repairman take a look at my unit and he said the color index was incorrect, the tv doesn't know the correct colors to display. The best way to fix that problem is to replace the "light engine". The repairman replaced the "light engine" to my tv and everything is working great. My tv was still until warrenty so I don't know how much a new "light engine" would have cost.
Sounds like your color wheel may be at fault. Do you ever hear any unusual noises coming from the rear of the TV? Color Wheels usually make a humming sound as they go bad. This is because the tiny bearings in the color wheel motor have begun to misshape from use and heat. Your TV may have a new type color wheel assy that has a slightly different configuration but the result is the same.
