Gas dryer hums when I press the start button but won't start

My Roper RGX4634KQ Gas Dryer hums when I press the start button. I suspect the motor has gone bad. Before I spend $100 on a new motor, is there anything else that could be causing the dryer to do this?
How do I remove the motor? I have allready removed the drum. The belt looks good. I jumped out the door switch so that power would get to the motor. When I press the start button the motor hums the way an electric motor does when it's seized up, but the motor turns freely. I think if it has a capacitor that is failing it might cause this symptom, but more likely would not allow any current to get to the motor at all. Unfortunately I don't have any way to test it.

Heats but wont stay heated

If the flame come on to start with, but then goes out and won't come back on I would suspect you have a bad coil on the gas valve.
If you see the flame cycle on and off, but the flame does come back on again this is normal. The flame needs to cycle on and off and not be on steady or the dryer would get to hot.
If the flame is cycling ok and the cloths just don't get dry then you need to check your dryer and vent for lint build up.
