Does the led on front of the monitor stay blue or does it become amber ?
If it becomes amber, then you are not getting a signal.
No harm in trying this : You can try to see if it is a contact problem.
With the monitor unplugged.
Use a small paper clip to run in and out of the blue vga plug holes a few times each to make sure they are not plugged or gummed up.
If that doesn't help and you know that your video cord is good, then I am afraid to say that more than likely there is a problem with yor video card.

If it stays blue then the signal is there but the screen isn't fully lighting up, leading to a failing power-inverter board or a bad bulb.

The 926 no signal box is usually light blue with dark blue top. But violet is close ?

There is a video board in the monitor itself that deciphers the input
signal to a resolution that you monitors screen will recognize. For
    instance widescreen versus regular screen.

Cards are not readily available. I just sold my last widescreen one yesterday. I have regular ones but they wont work right.

Not sure what new ones cost, but you can drop an email to proview to ask.

I usually do not repair video cards because usually the problem is in
the main chip, but if the new ones are pricy for the guess that it is
the problem for sure, I will be willing to check it for you first. Just
    costs you postage.

The moniter blacked out, blue light is saying the moniter is still on, but screen looks like there is no power. When you turn on the moniter, the screen shows up for a few seconds, then blacks out again!...

Unplug power. Unplug VGA cable. Remove back of monitor. (four small Philips headed screws along the bottom rear. Remove screws attaching Monitor to it's base. Carefully, lean the screen away from back of case. Gently unplug 25 pin cable from the screen.
Connect AC power.
Screen should power on Gray to White. Ble light comes on Blue.Flickers then changes to Amber.
Reconnect VGA cable. Monitor should work.
Close up the monitor in reverse order to opening it.
If these steps don't solve your monitor, consider replacing as cost of repairs may shock you.

Any monitor will work with any computer provided the correct graphics card driver is installed. When you install Vista and you do not install the graphics driver, Windows will default to Generic VGA driver and you will not get the best resolution that the monitor can display.

bad capacitors in the power circuit for the inverter power supply, replace these and everything should be alright it requires soldering skills or I can do it for a fee. It can also be transistors but much more likely it is capacitors.

unsoldering is the only way to UN-mount capacitors the board needs to be out of the casing. a solder iron and some electronic solder wire can be bought at radio shack or any other electronics store.

It sound to me as if the focus on the moniter has changed. If so a couple of possible tihngs might be going on. You could have a dust build up due to the static charge difference the dust and the high voltage potential with in the moniter. If so you can open it up and clean it with an air sorce or vacumn. You might also try adusting the focus adjustment on the back of the moniter. The worst case is that some componet is becoming weak and will fail in the future. Good luck
