Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

We have just bought a samsung dvd r155, we are having great difficulty in connecting the dvd to the tv via a hdmi cable. Both the tv & the dvd have hdmi ports. When the tv is receiving the digital output the dvd menu does not display on the screen, therefore we cannot record any of the digital programmes.

I can only get channel 3 in analog mode. If I could get channel 3 in digital- I believe I could record. I tried selecting the cvid mode to record and not matter what digital channel I select or have on, the DVR records whatever the last analog channel was that was on. Very frustrating. Can anyone help?

In order to record on the DVD-R155 you need to be subscribed to Cable or Satellite and have a set-top box with the audio/video plugs and not just a coaxial cable from the wall. With just the cable from the wall you can only play DVD's. I have an older TV and need to change to channel 91 in order to play a DVD

We have purchased a Samsung 55" Smart TV. We have it set up and working with Foxtel connected via the supplied fittings. How do we connect the DVD player?

The usual way is to connect it via a HDMI cable, for which the TV should have 2 or 3 input ports. You then select this HDMI as input on the TV to see a DVD playing.

Get a "high speed" HDMI cable. Some will say there is no difference between any HDMI cables, but they did see fit to increase the bandwidth in these cables for Blu-Ray DVDs.

DO you have manuals for all the units listed?
If not , try the Samsung consumer site.
It would take me quite a while to figure out your situation even with manuals and I have a business to run besides.

Also, ask some questions of Tech Support at Samsung..Let them KNOW how much you spent on their stuff.

God bless,

Hello

by befault your dvd recorder is transmiting signals via component video, so what you need to do is this connect both cable HDMI and Component or just a video cable then go into setup and then select video out via HDMI your video will go off on the screen and then with TV remote slect input source HDMI on TV and it should work fine.

Thankyou

Hdmi Issue

Most new HDMI DVD players use High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP)on the HDMI output. If you try to play this on an older TV that is not compliant with these new standards it will not work. This standard came out late in 2004 that is why your older player still works. There is also a service bulletin from JVC about upgrading the software on your TV for HDMI compatiblity issues. If you want a pdf file of the bulletin I can send it to you.
