Question about Televison & Video

Vertical bar on Toshiba Regza 46RF350U.

I have received this TV from my older cousin that has had it over a year and a half and told me that I can have it if I can fix it. I have messed with plasmas but not with LCDs. It can be a damaged screen or a messed up sustainer board or even the main board. I am writing to see if anyone has ran into this problem before and found a solution or has gotten advice from a repair person on how to go about to fix this problem. I have been told the TV has not been dropped, but my cousin has been known to fib every once in a while. I don't see any marks of damage on the case. Thank you for reading my rant.

I have vertical lines on my Toshiba Regza 46-in (46RF350U) that would disappear after the TV would warm up.  But now one of the vertical lines remains even after the TV warms up.  Is there a fix for this?

I am having the same problem. My 46RF350U has a line on the right side, about 5-6 inches in. Has been a yellow line, and currently is a black line. Sometimes it is normal, and sometimes the black line is there. Goes right through the O in FOX when watching in full screen on a FOX channel of course.

I have the same problem and a friend (who I convinced to buy the same model) has the exact same problem. The line is on the left, about 5 inches from the edge.
Toshiba should really do a recall since this appears to be a munufacturer defect

Toshiba has extended the warranty for this model due to the lines you described. Go to the following link and click on resources. The notice you're looking for is shown at the bottom of the box.

The screen has colored vertical lines and becomes to a dark black band about 6 inches of width. The tv is exactly two years old by today.

My 3-year old 52-inch Toshiba flat panel TV (Model # 52RV53U, Serial # AM409000295) developed a display problem (purchased Aug. 2008, manufactured July 2008). Vertical multicolored lines appeared on the screen just left of center. The band of thin vertical bars is 5.5 inches wide. The lines are about 1/16-inch wide. They are stationary, always exactly in same place. They over-ride any other picture on the screen (no transparency). They are there all time even with no video inputs to the TV after the unit is turned on. See picture #1. The TV works well in every other respect, but, obviously, it is annoying to watch the picture with the color band blocking about 1/6 of the picture.

I already swapped out the TCON board with no improvement and replugged the TCON board cables with no improvement.

Most likely it is the flat panel tab bond failure (panel made by Samsung). Further solution updates will be on my Facebook page.

What year was the TV manufactured? What model is it?

If its manufactured in 2008 get back with me.

I have a failing LCD panel and am starting a class action lawasuit against Toshiba becuase there is a high number of failing units built during this time that Toshiba is not addressing and their customers are not being herd... well I am going to make them listen!

Half screen showing picture other half showing color lines

This is a catastrophic and known failure of older Toshiba sets, not much you can do, try to take out a retrospective extended warranty, wait a month and claim, good luck.

Vertical line on my 46" toshiba lcd tv

The only logical solution for the problems people are having for the toshiba regza's tv's is to get into a class action law suite..., they contiue to sell tv's with defective parts and refuse to help the customer that spent large cash to find out they last if your lucky 2.5 years, they are junk and anyone with one will soon find out./.......

Vertival Color Lines

We had the same thing happen to us on the right-hand side. A technician told us yesterday that the Motorola Cable Box (supplied by Shaw Cable) places a border on Non-True HD Channels. Because we didn't place our picture setting to 'full-screen' each time we viewed these channels and burn line was created. He gestimated a replacement screen runs about $800.00 Canadian, but we have a 3 year extended warranty and will receive a new TV. He also said it happens on all big screen tv's that use a cable box creating borders on Non-True HD Channels.
