Question about Projection Televisions

1 Answer

Panasonic PT-47wx49e My Panasonic PT-47wx49e has developed a problem. When I turn it on (either with the remote or the on tv power button, the tv shuts off about 5 seconds later. The power light is steady, until the TV shuts off, then it goes out. No blinking light like others have reported. It won't respond to attempts to turn it on unless I unplug it from the wall outlet & plug it back in...but it does the same thing after 5 seconds. One tech said (after just looking at it not turn on) that it's the High voltage transformer & estimated $500.00 to repair. Is he right about the problem? Is he right with the estimate? I really don't want to dump the TV, as it isn't that old. Any suggestions?

Panasonic PT-47WX49E will not power on

Thats a power supply module going bad. Dont use it until a person with knowledge on TV see that. Or if you feel you can DIY open the back panel to see if there is a toasted or foreign object near the power supply area. Its located when you follow the main plug going into the back panel of your TV. Look for a dying Fuse too. And watch out for Capacitor that has still current, you may electicuted with that component. That parts its only for qualified servicemen area only.

PT-47WX49E Doesn't work

This is for sure a safety shutdown circuit that is shutting down this TV set. It is a hard call to pinpoint a problem such as this without first doing some troubleshooting on the TV set. You could have a short in the sweep power supply, the horizontal output transistor could be bad, therefore then the flyback is probably bad, or the vertical IC could be bad, there could be a regulator problem in the main power supply that could be bad, and also the convergence IC's can cause this problem. Almost any circuit inside this TV set can be detected and staop the set from starting up. Good Luck
