After turning on the large burner (bottom left), all igniters continue to spark. All other burners function correctly. This condition happens when other burners are on or off. I have removed the burner and cleaned it along with the igniter. Is this just a bad igniter or a sign of something else? Thanks On my Jenn-Air JGD8430ADB, my smaller lower left burner when turned on sets off the other burner ignitors and when I turn on all the burners the ignitors keep going?? The cooktop is a year old.
1. The left side of your unit is miss-wired. The front must go to theback, and the back to the front. You can either switch them at themodule, or the igniters themselves (the correct way would be to look atthe schematic and correct it at the spot it is wrong but it really doesnot matter). Some of the units have an access panel under the unitwhich makes accessing the module pretty easy. Some units have largeenough holes under the burners (not the cap the burner itself, usuallyheld on by one or two screws) once they are removed to fish the wiresback and forth. Whichever is easier for you. Switching them at the igniter is the easiest fix as long as you have enough wire.
2. This could be a bad spark module. But first, verify that the outlet polarity is correct before you change the module. This flow chart gives you further guidance on troubleshooting erratic spark problems.
Test the ignitor first, if the ignitor does not spark should be the ignitor itself.
Test first the solenoid powering the ignitor, you find it following the ignitor wirings, from the switch.
If the solenoid is fine the replace the ignitor.
Note: if there is spark, but does not light, then the ignitor is fine, check valve in this case.
You find replacement parts and diagram here, just enter the model number.

When you turn the dial a switch is engaged to start the ignitor , or if there is a sensor(one for the two bottom , one for the two top , it may not be reconizing that they are lit ,or the problem is sticky switch in the the dials, but I believe its a sensor that detects both of those burners that stops the spark
