The cover is the scanner assembly you lift up when changing the ink. at the back right hand side you will see a curved white projection from this. It is this that works the micr switch at the back, BUT this switch should have a white lever clipped to it. If it does not shake the whole printer to see if you've still got it inside. re-clip it back on and carefully reassemble scanner assy. Should now work ok until you have to change the cartridge again.

How do i fix this "front/left cover open close cover"

Since you don't mention it I will assume that the cover appears to be properly shut. The sensor for this is likely a blade type or possibly a magnet type depending on the printer. Open the front cover and see if the plastic blade is present and enters the proper slot. If so then it is likely that the sensor inside is loose or has shifted so that the sensor no longer 'makes' when the covere is closed. If you are familiar with the disassembly of your printer you may wish to investigate and see if you can resolve. If not or if the unit is under service or warranty please contact the appropriate person.

Check printer cover mesage

Open that cover and close it using some force is quick and the costumer can do it also.
The perfect solution for a technician:

The machine detects the opening of the lower door on the left side (under the manual tray) as a cover open. There is one sensor for paper jam and cover open. If the lower right door is open, the photointerruptor is free. If you close the right lower inner door, it is blocked, and when it is closed, and there is a paper in this section the sensor is free. Sometimes the edge of lower inner door doesn't makes the sensor moving, insted of crushes up. Then a little amount of grease can help you.

Message 'Clean Sensor' has appeared. Followed advise to open Cover D and close it again but to no avail. Has anyone got any other suggestions, please?

Follow the steps below to clear the "Clean Sensor" error message.
  1. Open the front cover of the printer (cover D). c2600_cover_d.jpg
  2. Slowly close the cover again. c2600_close_cover_d.jpg This action will move the lever shown below and clean the sensor.
  3. Open and close the cover several times. Once the front cover is left closed the printer will start to calibrate.
Once complete, the error should no longer appear and the printer should resume normal operation.

Note: If the error message is still apparent after following the steps above, contact Epson for further advice.

I had a paper jam and I had opened back cover to clear it. Now when I close it still says Back cover open. Close the back cover. What should I do? There is a black color flap inside the main back cover...

Just fixed the same problem. My solution was as follows: When you open the back cover there is another plastic flap/cover inside that drops. Across this 2nd cover there is a plastic rod running parallel with a plastic finger that sticks up perpendicular to the rod which I believe guides the paper into the roller.

On my machine this rod came out of line, placing it about a quarter inch to the left which affected the sensor and the guide. If you look closely, you will notice a small groove on the rod that needs to be in a specfic slot on the 2nd cover. Good luck

Keeps saying close document feeder cover when its not!! Is there a sensor somewhere that needs cleaning or something?? Or has it come to the end of its life???

The sensor for that is in the back left corner, there's a plastic piece that fits between a horseshoe shaped sensor down near the hinge for the cover. If the plastic piece is broken you can place something in the slot and it will think the cover is closed.

Cover open message and there are no covers open

On Many of these printers, when you recieve this message chances are you either have a "BENT" limit switch sensor or the Tap on the Cover is "Broken or Broke off",
First Step open each cover and close them again sometimes the limit switch isn't being hit correctly by the door Tab

Second- as you open the covers their are tabs that must hit these sensors- make sure their not broken or bent.

Start their and tell me if these resolves the problem chance are the tabs are not hitting the switches correctly and not telling the samsung printer that the covers are closed.

X3480 printer.message is saying;cover is open

the meaning of cover is open means --------the cover means.the thing which you lift to remove or install the cartridges.just keep that cover closed.if that cover is closed still its showing the same error.then the sensor which detects the cover closed is got moved from its orignal reset the sensor just tap all the sides of the printer for couple of minutes.mostly the top side and front side of the printer.and then check out the error must go away.if still the same error then its quite possible that sensor is broked as it very very delicate .so it needs a technician to replace the broken sensor.the cost to replace the sensor must not exceed then $5.
