Ntldr is missing at startup

To fix your problem please follow the below steps.
1. Locate your Windows XP/2000 installation disc and place it in your CD/DVD ROM drive. If you don't have this disk, then you cannot proceed further.
2. Restart your computer.
3. When the computer restarts press any key on your keyboard when you are prompted, "Press any key to enter setup." Most computers are configured to boot to another device other than a hard drive. Since the Windows XP/2000 installation disk is bootable, you should see the prompt. However, if you don't see the prompt you may need to change your boot priority in your BIOS. To do so, enter the system BIOS by following the onscreen instructions upon startup. Then navigate to the Boot Priority menu and modify another device, such as a CD-ROM to boot prior to the hard drive. Then reboot your computer.
4. After you have pressed any key, the Windows XP/2000 setup screen will appear. After loading, press the "R" key to repair the Windows installation. The screen will appear black. The computer requests which installation you would like to log in. Generally speaking, press "1" and "Enter." If you have more than one hard drive or more than one partition, the procedure may be different. You must know which hard drive or partition your Windows operating system is installed in. You are subsequently prompted for a password. If you haven't set up one up, you can just leave the query blank and press "Enter." The phrase "c:\WINDOWS>" and a blinking cursor subsequently appear.
5. Type "copy d:\i386\ntldr c:\windows" (without quotes), where "D" is the letter of your CD/DVD ROM drive (your optical drive may be different, especially if you have more than one). Eject the CD from the drive and type "Exit" (without quotes) to restart your computer. The NTLDR file will be copied from the installation disc to your hard drive.

Hi! I need help with my computer. I use a seagate ST380811AS hard disk in my desktop computer. The problem now, is that everytime I start my computer "A non system disk" appears on the monitor or...

1 Remove any floppy disks or bootable CDs, DVDs, USB flash drives or other bootable media from the computer. Attempt to restart the computer again. Proceed if you continue to receive the error.
2 Restart the computer again. Press the key required to enter your BIOS setup. (The monitor usually displays a "Press [key] to access BIOS" right after restarting your computer. Press the key shown on your screen.)
3 Navigate to the "Boot Options" or "Advanced" menu by using the arrow keys. (The precise menu terms will vary according to your computer and BIOS type.)
4 Select the hard disk that contains your operating system (usually C:) as your primary boot device. Select your CD/DVD drive, your floppy drive or another hard disk as your secondary boot device.
5 Save and exit the BIOS. Proceed with the next step if you see the "Non-system disk error" message again.
6 Restart the computer. Return to the BIOS' "Boot Options" screen by following the steps above, then set the "CD/DVD drive" as the primary boot device and the hard disk as the secondary boot device. Save and exit the BIOS.
7 Insert your Windows installation disc. Restart the computer. Press any key to boot from disc. Follow the on-screen prompts to reinstall Windows.
8 Replace your hard disk drive if you cannot install Windows.

if you download and install tune up 2010, it may fix your registry automatically for you however if it fails to, your operating system will continue to fail to shutdown. Device drivers are very well known for causing this error and if you have installed a new device and your computer is not picking up the new device properly, then the computer will not shut down. There are several forms of viruses that cause the system to stay on, power problems may cause the system to crash during a storm and thus damage the computer registry. A system defragmentation, cleanup, along with a registry clean would be the first best ideas.

Computer wont bootup windows xp error loading operating system drive 1 not found please help me

1.Restart your computer. Immediately after the screen goes blank for the first time, press the F8 key repeatedly. The Windows Advanced Options menu appears. If the menu does not appear, restart your computer and try again. Use the cursor keys on your keyboard (your mouse will not work) to select Last Known Good Configuration, and then press ENTER. Windows XP attempts to start.

.
If you recently installed new hardware, shut down your computer and disconnect the hardware. Then, restart Windows XP and troubleshoot your hardware to get it working properly.
3.
Restart your computer and press F8 again. This time, choose Safe Mode and press ENTER. Windows XP attempts to start in Safe Mode, which does not automatically start programs and hardware, and displays very primitive graphics. If Windows XP starts successfully in Safe Mode, you can remove any programs or updates you have recently installed. Then, restart your computer normally.

Performing a repair installation of Windows XP can fix many serious startup problems. While you should not lose any of your important documents, you might lose settings, and you will need to reinstall many updates.
Before performing a repair installation of Windows XP, you should have both your Windows XP CD and your product key available.
To perform a repair installation of Windows XP
1.
Insert your Windows XP CD into your computer.
2.
Restart your computer. If prompted, press a key to start from the CD-ROM.
When the Welcome to Setup page appears, press ENTER on your keyboard.
On the Windows XP Licensing Agreement page, read the licensing agreement. Press the PAGE DOWN key to scroll to the bottom of the agreement. Then, press F8.
When prompted, press R to have Windows XP attempt to repair Windows by reinstalling important Windows components.
The repair and reinstallation process might take more than an hour. Eventually, Setup prompts you to answer questions just as if you were installing Windows XP for the first time. For detailed instructions, read Install Windows XP.

Compaq presario system recovery

Hi,

When the initial blue HP screen appears, press the F10 key repeatedly until a recovery menu appears. The progress indicator that first appears does not indicate that a recovery is taking place. The progress indicator represents the time before the recovery process is started.

When the Recovery screen appears, click Next, and then click Yes to perform a normal, non-destructive recovery.

To perform a destructive recovery, click Advanced, and then click Yes.

CAUTION: A destructive recovery will format the hard drive. This will delete all the information on the hard drive and reinstall Windows XP and the original software that came with the computer.

After the System Recovery is complete, the computer restarts and continues into Windows setup. Complete the setup screens and wait until the computer finishes the setup.

NOTE: It may take a long time to complete Windows setup. This time varies and may take over an hour, depending on the amount of files that were stored in the user account folders (Like My Documents and the Desktop.

Note:Dont foregt to backup your important files/documents.
Hope this helps !
Thanks..

Compaq Recovery CD Error

In my experience, weird errors like this are usually caused by bad RAM. I have to wonder why you are reinstalling in the first place, was your Windows installation corrupted and running funny?

If you have access to another computer download and burn the memtest86 utility and run it on your Compaq Presario 5000. If the memory shows any errors you will have to replace it (if you have more than one stick, test each module one at a time as likely only one stick went bad).

If you do not have access to another machine, pull your memory out one at a time and try to run the restore disks again until you can identify the bad module. Once you remove the bad one, the restore CDs should run smoothly, albeit somewhat slower because of the lower memory count.

Since you already completed the first attempt to run the recovery CDs you may have corrupted the installation on the HDD to the point where you have to do a full install. This would lose all your data and programs. Perhaps it might be better to experiment with a spare blank HDD first as the data files might still be recoverable from your original HDD.

Please post comments on your progress.

This issue could be dude to a number of things, Probably the best thing to do would be to either start in safe mode, and see if there is an application that is causing the error, Or reinstalling the operating system from the windows CD.
