Question about Cnet CWA-854 (CWA854) 802.11b/g Wireless Access Point

1 Answer

Can't set up Cnet CWA-854.

When I try to set up mu Cnet CWA-854 wireless AP  I am unable to log onto the AP. I have set up this AP successfully before, but I had some trouble recently and I pushed the reset button on the back of the AP so that I could set it up again. However, when I this time follow the instructions I only reach the point where I am to enter the user-name and password. When I enter the factory default user name and password I get this error message in my browser:

"Access Error: Page not found
when trying to obtain /home.asp

Cannot open URL /home.asp"

Not much help to get from the user manual as it contains no troubleshooting section.

What can I do?

Disconnetion problem

Try to update the router and the access point. Download the latest firmware and then go back into them and then set them up again. It should be pretty simple, just time consuming.

Let me know if this works or not and we can go from there. Good Luck.

Pleace user name and password ? i dont now

Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. Then configure wan settings and lan settings enable wireless if you want to use wifi . If you are still not able to access router with above ip and password then press RESET button for 10 seconds it is in back side of router. Let me know if you need further assistance. HOW TO RESET BACK TO FACTORY DEFAULT SETTINGS FOR CWA-854

You need to login to the router and go to the save/reload settings section.

You can reset this Wireless Access Point back to its default settings by clicking on Reset button, and then press OK button to confirm your decision. Note: you can also hold down the reset button on this Wireless Access Point’s panel for more than 10 seconds to reset its default settings back to factory default.

Configuaring wireless ap

if that is the case there is a possible issue in the firmware of the device (access point) it is either you flash the firmware yourself or better if you report this to CNET because there is a possibility that you are not the only one that is having this kind of problem.

CWA-854 as repeater

I couldn't manage to get the CWA-854 to work in repeater mode with WEP encryption enabled, but it is possible to use MAC Access Control even in repeater mode. Just put the CWA-854 in Access Point (AP) mode, add the MAC addresses you wish to allow in the Access Control tab and selecting Allow Listed from the pull-down menu, and then go back to the repeater configuration you posted. In this way, you may not have encryption, but you can still block others from connecting to your wireless network.
