Question about Sony DVP-NS57P

Sony DVP-NS57p region code change

Dude, I tried your "Display, Top Menu, Clear, Power" sequence and all I got was "Insert Disc". Is there another way to get to this menu screen you mentioned?

On these Sony DVD players we run up against their 'efforts' to defeat DVD piracy. And, even though Courts have determined you have the 'right' to move where ever you want to live, and then watch your already purchased DVDs in that new country the DVD players still will not allow you to view your DVDs.

All that said, should the sequence you entered not work for you, Sony has installed a program in your onboard chipset to defeat your efforts.

I'll take a minute or two to see if there is an alternate method for your particular DVD player. In the long run Sony Customer Support is supposed to help you change this, they are required to do this. But, Sony is a huge company and getting to the right Help Desk of theirs is not an easy hill to climb.

Let me see what I can do and get back to you.

    Hi,

    I went and tried to look up another answer on your player in the two databases I use and there is no easy answer.

    Athttp://www.videohelp.com I find the most answers and as they have a discussion forum, it is easy to find others with the same player and read their problems and comments.

    In a look up again at the above url there was no easy fix to your player, indicating I went to an outside web page with less reliable answers, this is probably why you didn't not receive a good result from the solution I offered to you.

    From what I did read though, one quirk of the DVD player you own from Sony, is that it will NOT play a PAL encoded disc, only NTSC. NTSC is a US only format, perhaps Canada too, and is based upon how our analog TVs were first used and finally standardized after a standards war in the late 1940s. So, then, should you try to use a DVD with a PAL encoded video format it will not play no matter what you try to do. And, calling Sony on this issue alone will not help you.

    If you find yourself, inside the US and have some PAL encoded DVDs for some reason, they are not going to play. If you are outside the US and purchase some DVDs these are likely to be PAL encoded and will not play on your Player.

    Sorry, if this is the case for your problem. Freeing up the Region code isn't going to solve any problems for you. I suppose I had not cared to look for anything up other than the Region code hacks for you player and missed this fact about the PAL format and your player.

    You can read about his in the video help forum here:
    http://forum.videohelp.com/topic345358.h...

    There are two companies who hold the patents for DVD players, Sony and Phillips. I did see a suggestion to owners of this DVD player to get a Phillips. However, should you choose to buy another player, I would encourage you to ask in advance what their return policy is first and make a point to ask them about compatibility of NTSC encoded and PAL encoded discs as well a region 1 and region 2 or 3 which ever is the case with where you are now.

    Regards,

I have a dvd from England and my old Sony DVP-C670D keeps giving me a prohibited message4 every time i try to play it. How do i unblock the region code.

Hi there,

Although no guarantee, this 'region hack' is rumoured to work:

1. Place the DVD player into 'standby' mode.

2. Using the Sony remote, press the following button sequence: Title; Clear; Power (green button); 0 (zero button)

3. Using the remote, Open the disc tray, then close again.

Now insert your disc and attempt to play - allow up to 2mins to load/play. If no response, open/close tray and try playing disc again.

Cheers,

I have a Sony DVP s57p DVD player and my DVD's will not play. Well it does for about a minute then stops and goes back to the menu. How can I fix it? Thank you.

Hello
When you insert disc in it, do it show "reading" display on its display?. If so how much time will it take [in seconds] to return to 'Menu" display?. Check this test for atleast three times, and get the result to me by Fixya. OK.

Sony DVP-NS57P all region

Try this,
1) Plug the DVD Power Cord to the wall jack, but DO NOT Turn On the player;
2) With the Remote Control, press: Display, Top Menu, Clear and Power;
3) It will enter in the Service Mode;
4) Choose option 2 and then 4;
5) It will ask for an Input Code and Current Code (its 5 spaces), press 1245 and then Zero;
6) Leave all Zero erasing 1245, and on the bottom field all Zero too, then press Enter;
7) So the DVD Display will show a Zero (all Region-Free),     then press Power to Turn Off.
