Good day,

although it might seem a hardware problem, you might also consider the software used in sensing what buttons are being pressed.

i suggest that you have it checked by a competent technician at your nearest olympus service center or to your seller. dont forget to bring your warranty card (if it is still valid).

i hope this helps

The sound your camera is making, is probably the slipping from the gears, grinding them down, because something is blocked. Even when you can't see any blockage. Please don't leave the battery in, to avoid more damage. Contact a certified Olympus repair centre, or visit your dealer with the camera.

Olympus stylus 1030 SW purchased in 2008 won't download to my Windows 7 computer

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa:

How do i set the timer?

On the back of the camera, on the botton directional button, the one that looks like a cross, press the "down" button, which has a clock on it. When you take a picture, you have approximately 10 secs before the camera will blink for 2 secs and take a picture. You can cancel the timer using the same procedure.

1. Is there a slide switch on the side of the card? Is it unlocked? 2. Go into your camera's menu and find "reset"...follow the on-screen instructions. 3. Format the card in the camera.

My Olympus 1030sw is 8 months old and I took it

Well, getting it wet voided your warranty. Remove the battery and card...don't try to turn it on to avoid short circuits. You can try to bury it in some dry, uncooked rice for a couple of days. Water , especially salt water, is disastrous to cameras. The chance of it working are slim and even if it does for awhile, it may stop altogether later. Keep your fingers crossed.

Olympus Stylus 1030SW. The LCD monitor is pixelated. The pictures that are taken with the camera are crisp and perfect. When reviewed on the camera, they are very pixelated. When searching through...

You can try to reset the camera to factory defaults to see if this improves the monitor. You go to Menu and then left arrow to Reset and press Ok. Up arrow to Yes and Press ok this will put the camera back in factory default settings. If the screen still shows as pixelated, you might try to do a function of the camera called Pixel Mapping. Go to Menu and then right arrow to Setup then down arrow to Pixel Mapping - right arrow to Start and then the camera will try to repair the CCD processing chip inside the camera. If after this completes if the screen is still pixelated, then you want to send it to an Olympus service center for repair.
