PC won't start: Jedi solution

Many times when a customer's PC will not start, though it seems like power is getting to the components (fans are running, etc), I have simply turned off all power, including the power supply off switch if it is so equipped, disconnected all cables to all peripherals and surge protectors and waited a few minutes. Then, I connect everything back up and nine times out of ten she fires right back up and all is well. An electronics technician friend of mine suggested that static charges can build up and somehow keep the pc from starting, and disconnecting everything releases the charge and it works again. I'm not sure if that is exactly why, but I can tell you that it works!

How do i reset the computer on my 1994 jeep cherokee it seems to keep back fireing

disconnect both battery cables and short them together for about 10 or so minutes... this will drain the memory back up so that it wont remember a thing... when you do reconnect, you will notice the jeep will run a little crazy at first.. it's just the computer try to sync up to all the functions... your check engine light should also be out as well... so give the computer time to make it's own adjustments... I own a Jeep and have done this already and so far it works for me and mine is a 98 Grand Cherokee... Good Luck!!

When I turn on my machine, I get 3 beeps and my monitor tell me no signal, the model is a T5026 emachine, please email me any suggestions

Hello,

First use the following steps:

Turn off the system and disconnect power cables
Press and hold the power button for 10-15 seconds.
Reconnect power cables and try to turn it on.

If it remains same, the next step will be to:
Turn off the system and disconnect power cables
Open the case and re-seat memory modules

If you have more than one modules installed, try to test the system with a single module at a time.

Power supply or motherboard problem?

Hi talissap,

The blinking light is telling you something about the PSU. First check any AC mains voltage select switches for proper setting. US should be 115. Second if you have a multimeter, you could test the PSU for voltage. Disconnect all power to all components. remove all components from the board including cpu, memory . Leave the PSU only plugged into the board. Press power. If the fan turns on then it's not the power supply. The brand power supply isn't the best, I've seen where you need to wait for 5-20 minutes for the blinking to stop, at which time it will fire up. Now, if it doesn't power up, then it's most likely the PSU.

Good Luck,

Mark

System is not workin properly

You might try this. Shut down the computer, disconnect power cords, disconnect everything at the back of the computer, mouse, key board, etc. Open the case, ground yourself by touching an unpainted area of the case and remove the power connectors to ALL optic drives and floppy drive if you have one. (Of course do not disconnect the hdd.)
Reconnect mouse, keyboard, etc., and power cords to wall outlet.
See if it will post now. If it does I say you have a faulty power supply.
I was given a computer which was doa. It would not post, after I tried the above routine it posted then booted to windows.
I replaced the psu and now the computer works fine.
Hope this helps!

E-machine wont power up

Your power supply is fried. I had the same problem with my Bestec ATX 250 power supply. I fixed the problem by installing the StatTech model: ATXPOWER250. It was easy to install and works well. It is almost identical to the original but more quiet. I got it for $29 at MicroCenter.com. Also at online Newegg.com, Radioshack.com, Provantage.com, June 20,2009

T5026 won't start up

Unplug the power cord, open the computer and disconnect all the power cables (the cables going from the power supply to motherboard and drives). Then reconnect the power cord and see if the light on the PSU comes on, if so disconnect the power cord and plug in the motherboard connectors and continue connecting components one by one to determine which may be the problem. If no power light with everything disconnected then the PSU needs replaced.

HP Officejet printer

i assume that your printer is connected to a network. if so, it could be that the printer is set to use dhcp for the ip address. and if that's the case, it's better to set the printer to use static ip address since there would come a time that the dhcp server (a router most of the time) would provide another ip addresses to all the devices connected to it. that could be the reason why you are getting a "no connection" message (disconnecting and reconnecting it at times would solve the problem temporarily).

here are the steps on how to set static ip on the printer using a windows computer.(Note: the installation cd can automatically assign a static IP address as long as the printer does not obtain a dynamic (dhcp) address)

- boot up your computer the normal way so it'll get an ip address from your dhcp server
- then turn off your dhcp server so that the printer will not get any ip address via dhcp
- reset the printer to set its factory default configuration (with no dhcp address)
* unplug the printer from the power
* plug the power cord back in while holding in the printer’s
report button (it will try to find a dhcp server; after about three
minutes of no dhcp response, the printer will default to a static ip address of 192.0.0.192

- then print a configuration page to confirm that the ip address of the printer is set to 192.0.0.192

- then press the report button (wait until IP address is 192.0.0.192 before proceeding. if it remains set to 0.0.0.0, check the network cable connection to the printer and to the network is secure. If some other address appears repeat steps 3 and 4 until the default address appears
- you can now start the software installation cd

*during the installtion, follow these steps:
- select the model of the printer that you are using which is hp officejet before clicking on "next"
- then select "do network settings for me, then press "next
*follow the instructions on the remaining install screens
- the software will pick an ip address in the private 169.254.x.x range (not available on the open Internet) and permanently assign it to the printer. it will also set up a static route to that address in the computer’s printer configuration
- turn the dhcp server back on by turning on the dhcp server by
connecting your cable/dsl modem or dhcp to the network. because the hp now has a permanent static ip address, it will
no longer try to use dhcp server to get an address
- install the software on the other computers on the network who will be using the printer. the installation software will discover the hp printer at the 169.254.x.x address, and will add the static IP address in each computer’s printer configuration

Note: if the installation cd will permit you to change th private ip address from 169.24.x.x, it's better to set it on the same range as of the ip address given by your dhcp server (for example your dhcp server provides ip addresses starting from 192.168.1.100-192.168.1.250, set the printer's ip address to 192.168.1.59-below or any ip address that will not compromise any ip addresses that were already being used by your other devices)

hope this'll help you but if you'll have other concerns just ask me.

ciao!
