Taking monitors apart can be a pain and tough.
I do quite a few and some are really rough to unsnap !!
Remove the stand and cords.
Remove all rear screws.
Then the hard part is unsnapping the trim from the case without using a crow bar or breaking it.
Start at the bottom first that way if you leave a couple marks they are not so visible. You'll need something thin with a beveled edge to slip between the two plastic parts to release the catches as you rock the trim back and forth from the screen.
(the edge of a pocket knife works- a credit card can have an edge sharpened with a file- sometimes real good fingernails work)

If you are going to DIY and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

Moniter has flickering and moving stripes

You may have power supply failing, but try this monitor with other PC first, if it still does not work then you will have to open it up.

New acer 19 " moniter plug in will not turn on ?

Hi,
Try other outlet, check the power cord if it contacted the monitor. If nothing happened, maybe it's factory defect, since it still under warranty, you can still change it.
Thanks
