If you do not have the disk you must download the software from Internet, follow instructions below,

Click here:Official Lexmark Drivers and Software

A web page will open, follow instructions, select model, select operative system etc., and click on download .
Chose to download the file in my documents when asked.
After downloading, find the file, double click on the file , then if you get introubles, follow the instructions below to reset and reinstall drivers:

  • Unplug printer USB.
  • Go to control panel >> installed printers in Windows and remove (delete ) any installed printer from printer list.
  • Download driver from website, or use the disk and run the install file.
  • Follow driver installation wizard.
  • Plug back printer when prompted from installation wizard.
Note:some printer doesnot work on Vista, if you do not find any driver downloadfor Vista onyour model page, that means your model is not Vista compatible.

My paper won't feed properly through, gets stuck and the ink prints over and over the first inch of the page. I have tried to remove any dust on the rollers by hoovering.  I have recently moved and the secondary paper feeder doesn't seem to want to click into the paper holder at the back!  I'll be forced to buy a new one this week unless someone can help.

Solid orange light

If your printer suddenly got disconnected from your network, try to move it away from any interference and closer to your router.

If the WiFi light is on solid orange then it's totally disconnected from your network. You'll need to reconnect your printer back to your network. Just run the Wireless Configuartion Utility.

To access that, on your computer, click on Start > All Programs > Lexmark 3600-4600 Series > Tools > Wireless Configuration Utility.

Lexmark 6500 orange blinking light

Blinking orange on the WiFi light means one of the following:
  • The printer is out of the range of the wireless access point (wireless router)
  • The printer is trying to communicate with the wireless access point but the wireless access point is turned off or not working properly.
  • Either the configured printer of the wireless access point has been turned off and back on, and the printer is trying to establish communications with the network.
  • The wireless settings of the printer may no longer be valid.

Thw wifi in the lexmark z1420 is not turning on at all

Please try to reset your printer's wireless network settings. Refer to this article on How to Reset the Z1400 and Z1500 Series Network Settings. Once you reset the printer's network settings, the Wi-Fi light will momentarily turn off then on with orange light.
You can then run the Lexmark Wireless Setup Utility application on your computer to reconfigure the printer to reconnect to your wireless network.

Cannot get Lexmark 1400 Series printer installed on my Dell laptop it is overridden by Microsoft printer.

Hello,

in that case, you will have to uninstall Microsoft printer so that it won't override your Lexmark 1400 Series printer.

Click start > Control panel > Add/remove program (Win xp) or programs and features (Vista). Uninstall Microsoft printer from there.

If that doesn't solve the problem, please let me know so that I may direct you further.

Good luck.

My lexmark z1420 has been in the loft for some time, I have switched it n anf the wi-fi light keeps flashing orange no green?

Try to print the wireless settings page to determine if your printer is still on the same wireless network as your router and computer. To print the page, follow the steps in these article on How to Print the Network Settings Page on the Z1400 & Z1500 Series Inkjet Printer; a brief explanation of its values. On the page, check the Status, SSID and also the IP address and see if it's connected to your network. Otherwise, you may need to reset your Lexmark Z1420's wireless network adapter and reconfigure it. To reset, follow the steps in this article on How to Reset the Z1400 and Z1500 Series Network Settings. Launch the Lexmark wireless setup utility to reconfigure the printer to your wireless network.
Hope this helps.

Wireless Connection

I have the same problem and I have exhausted all options that I can think of. Last night I reset the network settings for the printer and started over and at the end, after going through the whole wizard again, it spit out a new network page and looked like the problems were fixed. (was now on channel 11,used to be on 6, also said it was connected to the wireless network when before it said it was not). I got excited thinking it had finally connected, but when I went to print a test page I got the same communication problem error message. I just got off the phone with Lexmark Support and he told me it was most likely printing to the wrong port. When I go to my printers properties page, it is printing to USB001 (Lexmark virtual printer port), and he told me it needs to be on "Lexmark 1400 Series" port. I will try to create a new port tonight and hopefully I have "Lexmark 1400 Series" as an option to choose from.

Jeez this thing is exhausting. I consider myself to be fairly computer savvy and I have wasted 4 nights working on this thing to no avail. How do people who don't know their way around a computer handle wifi printing to the 1420??
