Question about Canon EOS 20Da Digital Camera
I just bought a Canon eos 20d
Im trying to zoom in or out when I like to take a picture and it won't do it.
I can only doit manually. The auto foces works though.
Im wondering if the zoom locked? and how to fix it? The camera was working just fine before.
Do I have to download the software before using the camera?
If you zoom in/out manually while the camera is on AF mode would this affect the zoom option?

The autofocus mechanism on some lenses can be damaged if you manually focus while the camera is attempting to autofocus. Basically, you would be working against the motor and gears.
There is no need to download software before using the camera, however, I would suggest going to Canon's website and downloading the firmware upgrades for it. Here's the link:

Hope this helps!

SOURCE: Canon EOS 20D shutter error
Hello - I figured it out. I had the exact same problem. The shutter failed and it had to be fixed by Canon. Apparently that happens after the shutter fires so many times (like a click-count on a printer). I just got my camera back and it's doing awesome now.
