Maytage dryer squeak

My maytag dryer is about 7 years old and started emitting a constant loud squeak about a week ago. The sound is like chalk on a chalk board. I took the door and front panel off and carefully ran the dryer for a few seconds to see where the noise was coming from. It looks like the culprit is a small rotor about 4 or 5 inches in diameter that sits against the outside of the drum at about 5 o'clock, about 8 inches above the dryer exhaust. I carefully sprayed WD40 but the noise is still there. What is this rotor called and what's the best way to replace it?

thanks, Krazytech. I wiped everything down very thoroughly so there should not be excess lubricant. I'll go back in, wipe it down again, and use proper lubricant next time. Is there a good picture somewhere of the inside of the electric maytag dryer so I can easily identify the parts? Thanks again.

Do NOT use WD40 in a dryer. WD-40 has considerable flammability ingredients. the rotor is most likely the blower . check the wheel and the motor. could be loose or have something in it... if you want to lubricant.. use a high temp lubricant made for dryers..

yes and there is even a service bulletin on the blower if the bolt and brace are bent on the blower it will cause the blower wheel to scream... this bolt is in the fount and hold the blower to the base...

Started squeaking a couple weeks ago now it is a loud growl rumbling.

Many dryers use rollers or wheels to support the clothes drum. When these rollers are worn, they can be noisy. You should replace the whole set of rollers at the same time.

Maytag dryer (LDE5914ACE) loud slipping/thumping sound

yes, it's called a blower wheel... it is what blows the air into the dryer to blow out the humidity through the vent... it has a D fitting and as you use it, the D rounds out and the 'squirrel cage' stops spinning and begins to slip... if you continue to use the dryer without replacing this, you could burn up your dryer motor... it will just over heat....

Had a service call 7 months ago on 16 year old Maytag Stack w/d to lubricate drum roller that was squeaking. Squeak has returned. Any pointers on lubricating it myself, or is it worth replacing the drum...

Lubricating the bearings is usually only a temporary "quike fix".

Replace the bearings, and lubricate the bearing shafts with a lithium grease.

Maytag Dryer, 25 year old dryer has a loud squeak

Hello.

The squeaking is coming from the rollers that the drum rides on. If you take the model number to a local appliance service store they will have the parts and be able to direct you on replacing them.
