I'm trying to connect my computer to my Sansui A3100 receiver so that I can listen to my computer music via my speakers which are also hooked up to my receiver. Everything is hooked up correctly. Can you help?

Thanks. I realized that I had plugged in the computer-receiver connection in to the wrong input (in the back of the receiver), almost immediately after a posted my question. Thanks anyway! :) -Whazzat

I would connect the computer directly to the speakers not the receiver to confirm the impedance is compatible. Connecting via the receiver complicates the issue.

Which output channel are you selecting on the receiver.

Plays only mono when listening to music

I lot could depend on how the music source has been connected to the receiver. If you are using a stereo CD player then you may need to check if it is configured to send audio in stereo mode and not mono. The input source selection for the audio is given in page 26 of the manual.
You can go to the setting menu in Receiver and configure the speakers settings according to which ones you have installed.
Also refer page 25 in the manual to over ride speaker configuration if it is not showing correct.

Dennon gets hot shuts off

how are your four outside speakers hooked up? If you have four speakers hooked up to only two output channels on the receiver, the receiver is sensing a short and shutting down to avoid damage to the amp.

I would like to set up my old Pioneer PL-514 turntable and my Pioneer SX-550 sterio reciever to listen to some old LPs. I seem to have lost the instructions and connection diagrams. Could you please...

The upper link is for the turntable, the lower is for the receiver. they want you to create an account tu dowlnload so just create an account with them. In my expierience turntables had hook upeads out the back(wires connected) that would hook to phono in on receiver and speakers would hook to receiver via speaker wires(may not be included) by pos and neg. The speaker wire usually either has a rib or a line or writing on on leg so you can identify which wire you would want to be pos or neg.

I have an old Sansui 400 receiver. I get no sound from the left channel--both A and B speaker options. The speaker and wires are OK, because they work when hooked to the right channel contacts.

The problem seems to be the left transistor part of the unit. Try this:change A versus B speakers, asuming speaker A was working properly. If still speaker A, now connected to left output does not work, you will probably have transistor malfunction on the left channel of the receiver. Any electronic store will substitute the left transistors.
Good Luck.

Trying to hook up Zone B stereo speakers in two additional rooms.

The infrared mentioned by the manual is most likely an extension possibility to use the remote control in each room, forget that part.
What you need to do is quite simpel, after connecting all speakers, you should indicate in the setup menu of each zone which speakers are connected and do as follows:
in main room select 5.1 setup, for the other zone select only the left and right front speakers.
Your EXTRA SP indicates the extra speakers for 7.1 setup and when set to zone B it recognises only 1 speaker.

So read carefully the manual how to connect Zone 2 speakers and connect that way, than carefully walk through the setup menu to setup the zone 2 correctly.

Hook up patio speakers and use my cd/dvd/cable/ipod outside only

i'm not sure if this will work, but you could try connecting the rca stereo cables from you cable box to the cd input on the receiver those would be analog. then you could use the music channels at least. as for an ipod maybe sort of the same thing using an av cable instead of the dock;like i said i don't know if it will work but just a thought.

Sansui 3200Z stereo receiver -- Both A and B no longer drive speakers. Progressive failure: first Right went out, now left.

now you have to try and isolate frist your problem .is it your speakers? your cabling or your receiver? check all your cables for any loose connections. check your speakers for possible damage, you can try using another set of speakers to your receiver and see if it does the same thjing and wont work. or try also your speakers in another set of receiver.
