Question about Microsoft Internet Explorer 7

Can I run download ie 6 if ie7 is pre-installed on my computer?

My computer was installed with windows vista and internet explorer 7, which I have had no problems with, except that a dvd rw that I need for work will not play on ie7. Can/should I install ie6 and can they run on the same computer without any problems? I don't want to lose my ie7 but I need these dvd's.

It is a dvd rw that is actually aerial photos of particular counties. there is no sound or anything but it says dvd on the cover. Also on the cover is the logo for IE7 for the new ones and nothing for the older ones. The counties that have been updated to IE 7 start running immediately without doing anything except selecting run instead of save on the autoplay popup. When I insert the IE6 compatible dvd, all that pulls up is a blank screen. It doesn't show up when I try to go through Media Player. Does that clarify it at all? I'm really not sure what I'm doing on all this.

Can you not play the DVD on Media Player?

Also, I'm not sure what you mean by "play" as it applies to IE.

Perhaps if you could post what type of files they are, it would be more help. When I say type, I mean what extension is on them, for example smithcounty.mpeg or smithcounty.mov or smithcounty.mp4.

Hi Mary,

Mostly, new system with windows vista operating came with Internet explorer 7 which is the update of your internet explorer 6. You can still install IE6 but that could cause a problem with your system registry because you are reverting your internet explorer to the old version.

If you are playing video using your dvd rw you may need to use windows media player or you may need to use power dvd or any video/dvd player that came with your computer.

You dvd/rw is a device where you can write or copy your pictures, documents or any files on a blank dvd or cd.

keep me posted.

Uninstall IE8 and install IE7, the original IE, please.

Click Start
Click Control Panel
Click Add/Remove Programs
Click Show Updates
Select IE8
Click uninstall
This should "restore" your previous version of IE (6? 7?)

Or, if you're running Vista or 7, see: http://www.microsoft.com/ie9
and install "Internet Explorer 9 beta", i.e., a "pre-release" version of the _next_ version of IE.

Then I would suggest you to Roll Back it to the original Internet Explorer (i.e Internet Explorer version 6.0)

Which come up with Installation of Win Xp with Service Pack 2.

Bad Effect due to IE 7.0 or higher version:

So to stop these problems, better to run with lower and safe version of IE:

I need to change my internet explorer 8 to internet explorer 7 & i have windows vista

Hi,
Click on the start menu (orb), go to the Control Panel and select Programs & Features. From the list of installed software locate IE8 and uninstall it.

Restart your computer and download IE7 from here (its say's it's for XP, just ignore that it will work on Vista)

Are you getting error message that reads " Either you dont have latest Java version or flash to run the videos.

As the problem with the IE 7.0 and IE 8.0 is related to cookies comes from the videos websites.

I would recommend you to rollback the IE to IE 6.0.

IE 7

Yes you can upgrade your Internet Explorer to IE7 (assuming you have IE6 right now)

You can download and install IE7 from Windows updates or go to the Windows Support Site to download it at http://support.microsoft.com

Only upgrade to IE7. Do not download and install IE8 Beta. It is still in testing. IE7 will not cause any problem with your HP Pavilion.

Getting message stating add-on was running when problem occurred

Try going into your control panel & uninstall your Internet explorer, then re-install it. IE7 uninstall can be found in the main add-remove program window, IE6 uninstall can be found under the add-remove windows components part of the add-remove programs. To re-install IE7, though, you need to go to windows update to download IE7 again. This won't be a problem because uninstalling IE7 automaticaly returns you to IE6

I need to get instructions as to ho2w to uninstall Exporer and reinstall to try to correct a reliability issue

To avoid possible headaches from interference, I suggest you uninstall in Safe Mode:
Turn your PC on or Restart. As soon as you see the black and white screen, press and hold the F8 key. Continue holding until you see a black and white menu. Safe Mode is F3 or F5.

Uninstall IE7
1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel. 2. Click Add or Remove Programs. 3. Scroll down to Windows Internet Explorer 7, click it, and then click Change/Remove.
If for some reason Windows Internet Explorer 7 does not appear in the Add or Remove Programs you should:
1. Open Windows Explorer 2. Click Tools | Folder Options 3. Click the View tab 4. Make sure the radio button next to Show hidden files and folders is on  5. Click OK 6. Click Start, and then click Run 7. Type: %windir%\ie7\spuninst\spuninst.exe into the text box and click Enter
If you find yourself still needing help uninstalling Internet Explorer 7, check out the IE7 release notes found on the Microsoft MSDN Web site.
