Did not help me as I can't get to the BIOS settings.
Using PhoenixBIOS 4.0R6.0 for IBM NetVista.
Hitting F1 for BIOS gives the same screen, no BIOS access.

I'll see about replacing the battery at some point in fixing this.

The security device plugs into the left front of the MB as viewed from the front. It is approximately 1.5" x 2 inches in size. they sometimes come loose form the socket when a system is moved. Open the case and see if it is there and loose. If completely gone, then you need to contact your MB supplier for either the device, a new board or a factory reprogram of the board to disable the missing device.

I'm doing some research on your behalf and the hits I'm getting what seems to be an item that at some point was attached to the motherboard, that item being a RF antenna, and that know has been removed.

try this:

1. enter BIOS Setup Utility by entering the supervisor password (if one is enable), and select:

  1. Password
  2. Security Chip
  3. Clear Security Chip
  4. exit saving settings
  5. restart
2. try replacing the battery of your motherboard, watch for ESD by grounding yourself by touching the powersupply first before touching any component inside your pc.

3. if 1 or 2 did not work, try to restore your bios to defaults or check on your motherboard what could be missing and if possible disable this item or device then save then exit... if that does not work you may need to replaced the motherboard (sorry)!

Monitor screen shows all sorts of colors in line patterns.

with the information I gathered IBM netvista does not features a video card, it is inbuilt. So it shares your system memory. just open the sysyetm chassis and take out the RAM module and clean the contact edge with a rubber eraser (pencil eraser). Re insert the RAM module and try again.

If the problem persists. try changing your memeory module(s).
