Look on the side of your SD card for a tiny slide switch. Gently slide this switch to the other "unlocked" position. Insert the card in your camera and try it out.

Cannot download pics from GE X5 camera

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Keep getting card error was working fine took card out to download pics on to my computer and when i put card back in i keep getting card error

There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". The most common cause is having the tiny slide switch on the side of the card in the wrong position. Another common cause is card corruption from the card never being formatted in the camera. There are also other common causes if the above didn't help, with troubleshooting steps for this problem listed here.

Camera cards are never to be formatted on the computer....only in the camera. "card error" usually always means you need to format the card in the camera. This will erase it so download any pics you want to save first.

I get a "Card locked"

Move the tiny slide switch on the side of the card to its other position. Also, you should only be deleting pictures from your card using your camera's delete or format functions. Deleting from the computer may eventually corrupt your card. For more info, see this link.

Your computer and your camera use different operating systems. If you try to put pics and videos on a card using the computer and then try to play it in your camera, you take the risk of corrupting the card and the camera. Also, if each time you remove the card reader from the computer, you don't use the "safely remove hardware" function, you corrupt the card further. These are probably the reasons you're having problems.
