eMachines model 780 monitor: It comes on for one second then goes blank. I even tried the monitor with a different pc. If you turn it off and on again, it will do the same thing, blink on then off again.

I have a Similar issue with an emachines monitor..after trying a few things such as trying it on a different computer...changing cables and changing power cords..also turned the brightness up all the way...you can faintly see the windows screen on the monitor. I have determined there is a fault within the electronics of the Monitor Itself...if you have this problem then there is most likely your answer. Use another monitor and hook up to your PC in question..if it works then you know its the other Monitor. Hope this helps

CANNOT COMPUTE!!!! NEED MORE DATA! Is your monitor the problem or the computer? Try connecting the monitor to another computer. You can also try connecting a laptop with an external video adaptor to the monitor to test it.

When I turn my computer/monitor on the monitor has a picture for about 3 to 5 seconds and goes blank. I can turn it off and back on, but the same thing happens.

Hello,

The picture board on your monitor is bad, since it goes off after few seconds and the power led or button is on, it means the picture board of your monitor has developed fault.

The best thing for you to do now is to take the monitor to a local repairer within your vicinity to help with the replacement of the picture board because the fault is not something you can fix yourself, in order not to complicate issues.

Take care

Most common failure in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, falied inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed SAMSUNG monitors to get some ideas what goes wrong: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further.

Unplug the cable from your PC, if the monitor shows a test image, the monitor is fine and the problem is with your graphic card. If you dont see nothing on-screen after unpluging the cable from the PC, then the monitor in damaged. Send it to repair.
