Your unit may be overheating. That may be the reason that it will work when it is cool and shuts down when it heats up.
First, check and see if you feel a lot of heat under the laptop. Also look to see if the fan is working. You can probably hear the fan if it is working. If the unit is very hot and the fan is bad or intermittent, you need to have it service. Heat can cause more damage.

And if it not the fan, it may be the hard drive that is failing.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

IBM X40 Wireless Radio Keeps Shutting Off

This link will take you to the driver page for your unit. Scroll down to wireless networking and download the latest driver for your machine(there's a couple of different possibilities it could be but you may find that the drivers listed are more recent than the drivers you have loaded on the machine.

Beyond that if you are unable to work out the issues with your wireless you can always purchase a cardbus or USB wireless adapter and disable the onboard wifi.

Post back with you results.

IBM Think Pad T22 auto -shut down a few minutes

Try running it without the battery. Sometimes an IBM battery can develop a short and cause this. If it still does it without the battery, I'm afraid it's the power management chip on the motherboard, and the motherboard will need to be replaced.

Does not power stay on

try this with just the ac plugged in and the battery removed. Sometimes the battery, when fully discharged, can cause the system to shut down.

Help!

go to start>run, then type ipconfig /flushdns and press enter. If no luck then go to control panel>network connections, then click on your network adapter sometimes called local area connection unless it's wireless and right click>properties, click on the tcp/ip line and click properties and check the obtain ip address is ticked and select ok. Try again and if that doesnt work go back to network connections, right click on your network connection and select uninstal, then restart the notebook and it will reinstall itself for you to try again.
