TV stopped responding to remote control

The TV is on Channel 73, I wanted to change the channel but there was no response and also will not turn off. I followed instructions in the troubleshooting manual by holding the POWER button on the TV control panel(is this the same as the remote control) but TV did not reset itself.
Need help.
Thanks ED

Replace the batteries of your remote control first.
Then be sure to hit the right button in your remote control, Usually the remotes control no respond because when you hit the channel key the key top button are indicating a different function like (tv, video, cable, aux) In that case you have to hit first tv or cable and then hit the key of the channel desired

Is the remote a universal remote or the remote that came with the tv. If its a universal re-enter the code for your set. If it is the remote that came with the tv, your user manual will explain how to reset the remote. At least it does with my tv, hopefully yours too. Also check your manufacturers website for troubleshooting help

If the TV do not respond to remote control; to change channels, there are many possibilities. Check the infrared emission of the remote control first. Check it with fresh batteries. If the infrared sensor inside the TV is faulty, this kind of fault can happen. In other words, your TV need a through check up, which a normal user can't do with ease. Cannot access channel 73 on TV2

If you are unable to access the TV menu using the buttons on the TV itself it is possible you can with the TV2 remote if it still controls the volume etc. for this TV. If it doe not you will need to find a code for your set in the manual for the receiver or you can go to the following link to find that info as well.http://tech.dishnetwork.com/departmental_content/TechPortal/content/tech/receiver/625.shtml
Assuming you have control of the volume still press the small TV button on the top left of the remote. Now press the menu button and you may be able to access the TV's menu. If so you need to run a channel scan/auto program the TV. You may need to use the buttons on the TV still to maneuver through the menu.
If you are still unable to access the menu you may need to purchase a universal to access the menu.

My remote wont operate my sony TV volume

Here you go. This will work with most all universal remote controls. If you don't have the code do the following:
Automatic Programming
With automatic programming, the remote control tests all the codes available on the Code List and assigns the correct code for the selected device. Although this method can be more time-consuming, it eliminates the need to look up codes and enter them manually.

1. Turn off the device with which you want to use the remote control.

2. Press and hold the corresponding button on the remote control
(TV, VCR, SAT, DVD, CAB or AUD) until POWER INDICATOR illuminates. It should take a couple of seconds for the light to remain solid. The remote control is in programming mode.

3. Press and release power button. The POWER INDICATOR flashes once and stays on indicating the unit is in Power Scan mode.

4. Press CHANNEL up or CHANNEL down repeatedly until the device turns on.

5. When the device turns on, press OK to store the code.

Note:
• To exit without storing the code, press BACK.
• T he unit will search for the next code or the previous code if you press
CHANNEL up or CHANNEL down after the device turns on. (go slow you need to press OK when the TV turns on) if you mess up turn TV off and start over.
6. Press any other button. If the device responds, the remote control has been programmed. If the device does not respond, repeat steps 2-5.

your turning section is not responding to any input, hence needs to be checked by a technician. every thing you have mentioned are controlled by one ic, with its respective voltages.
