I've changed my resolution in UT99 from 800??600 to 1284??1024 and now all crosshairs look too big and blurry, making it rather hard to aim with. I'll need to use this resolution once my new 19" LCD arrives since it is its native resolution, so I'm wondering is there a way to make crosshairs look normal again? Thanks.
I did but no luck. My new LCD arrived today and I found out that using lower interpolated resolution in UT doesn't look all that bad. Guess I'll play like that, bah.
Nice model, I was considering it for a while. Mine is advertised as 6ms gray to gray and I can pretty much say it is as responsive in games as my old CRT, 997NF.
Cheers and happy fragging!

Have you tried messing with the crosshair style in the options? I think you can in this game (like most deathmatch games), and perhaps just inkering with it will send it back to normal.
I have an AG Neovo 19" LCD @ 12ms and it runs awesome for games. Cheers!

This is from Samsung's site - #
6 ms (g to g) response and pva panel does sound good, some nice viewing angles too.
# E4.htm
Afaik, Dell 1905FP comes in two versions, one with 20ms and other with 8ms response time panel. You most likely have 8ms version (or eyes with an interesting anti-ghosting feature :)
Luckily my crappy V9570 has one, so I'm sticking with it for now. Cheers.

I took a peek at the 970p and the specs don't really look all that great. Response time is 20 ms which is a bit high for a TFT panel. Some mfgs. today are offering as low as 8 ms response time.
But I can't really talk, since mine (Dell 1905FP) is also advertised at about 20 ms # but seems to do fine. I read dozens of reviews of my monitor before I bought it, and while some people loved it others complained about severe ghosting. Personally, I never see any ghosting but then I'm looking at it through 52 year old eyes. ;-)
My only recommendation is to use a DVI connector. If your vid card doesn't have one then maybe it's time to switch to one that does. An analog connection simply won't do any LCD monitor justice.

I already made a bunch of my own (a bit of a crosshair freek here, he he). The only one that I find usable now is a single pixel dot which looks almost as a normal dot, minus some clarity though. Anyhow if I find some other solution I'll post it back here.

Yes, I wanted to see if UT99 would even run at that resolution since it's not selectable from menu and I had to manually put it in unrealtournament.ini.
This is how default crosshair looks like on 1280x1024: #
Not pretty :/
I guess it's an UT99 specific thingie then. I can only hope then to get a bright dot pixel at the exact center of my new screen.
On a side note - are you satisfied with how your LCD performs in games? I decided to go for Samsung 19" 970p. Its specs look great but I'm a bit anxious about how it will turn out in practice.

Yes, UT scales them rather poorly at the larger resolutions.
I don't know a fix, however there are user-made crosshairs around that might be an improvement - google for "ut crosshair" to find a bunch of sites and instructions.

I'm assuming that you're changing your existing CRT to that resolution to test? All things being equal, your crosshairs (and everything else) should have gotten smaller and sharper, since that's the normal outcome from going to a higher screen resolution.
Maybe you should wait to see what they're actually going to look like on the new monitor. FWIW, I went from a 1024 x 768 CRT to a 1280 x 1024 19" LCD and didn't have any problems with crosshairs, although I'm playing UT2004 and not UT99.

Hi have the same problem - started about a year after I got it. I took the covers off to look at it and there's nothing to adjust. It's simply a very poor design. The weakened spring mentioned in another posting is definitely part of the problem on my unit but because the center hinge is also frozen I cannot get all the covers off to get a good look at it. That makes it a real pain in the *** to get the mechanism apart to get a closer look at it so I just left it. Way to go Samsung.
