HP Photosmart C6100 All-in-One series. Ink system has failed. Error 0xc19ac3ff.

Preseed on/off button - panel showed "shutting down" and button light flashing, but has not shut down yet after more than 10 minutes.

  • hadmed Oct 12, 2008

Pressing all the buttons for a long time and then the off/on button did not make any diffrence. Still 'shutting down'. Should I just disconnect it at the power point.

  • hadmed Oct 12, 2008

When switched on again, came up 'ink cartridges missing ... Refer to printer documentation'. I reloaded the cartridges but the panel message has not changed. I then pressed 'ok' and when that didn't work, I pressed 'cancel'. No change.

  • hadmed Oct 12, 2008

The 5 minute wait before re-connecting power and switching on again appears to have worked. I will accept this one. There was another 'solution' came in after this one but I did not need to try it.

    Kind regards

Uninstall printer and printer software completely. Create a new folder on your desktop and name it c6100drivers. Go here: http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/sm/WF10a/18972-18972-238444-421635-410635-1153695.html Navigate to support/drivers>your model>look for available downloads> download your models latest software update to the new folder you created on your desktop. Power down your computer>reconnect the printer to the computer and turn the printer on>Power on your computer. Windows will detect new hardware and ask you if you have the manufacturers intsall cd or a location where the install files can be found. Direct the wizard to your new c6100drivers folder. Follow the rest of the setup and your done.

This can be a possible problem, check on this and try to correct this error ;

1. The printhead is overheated. Wait a few minutes; the printer resumes printing automatically once the printhead cools.

2. The printer may not fully ejected your paper. Remove the paper by hand ; the Paper Out light goes out. If you are printing a multiple-page document, insert a new sheet of paper into the paper guide. The Pause light goes out and the printer automatically loads the paper and resumes printing.

3. Move the paper a little to the left or right. Reinsert the paper all the way into the printer. Make sure that the edge guides are not too tight and abstructing the paper. Set the paper release lever to the single-sheet position if you are using single sheet.

-or-

Reset the Printer; Use the instructions below to resolve the issue by restarting the product.

  1. Disconnect the Universal Serial Bus (USB) cable from the back of the product, but leave the product turned on.
  2. Open the cover of the product and remove the print cartridges.
  3. Close the cover and wait for the Insert Ink Cartridges message to display.
  4. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product and wait for one minute.
  5. Reconnect the power cord. If the product does not automatically turn on, press the Power button.
  6. Open the cover and reinsert the print cartridges.
  7. Close the cover. If prompted, print a calibration page.
  8. Reconnect the USB cable, and try to print a print job from the computer.
If you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service the product.

Try a hard reset:
Unplug the printer from the AC power source (wall socket) and PC, wait about a minute and reconnect to PC and plug into wall socket. (You do not have to press the ON/OFF button to switch off the printer in this method).
This should reset the printer.

If even this does not work, it could indicate a circuit problem or a problem with the logic card (controller chip). Best call it in for service or purchase a new printer (whichever works out cheaper).

Cheers!

Your printer if not respond or still continues sending error messages need to be serviced or replaced. Like last option you can try replacing the cartridges for new ones and see what happen.

Try this one for this problem:

Reset the system by holding down the OK, Cancel, Black, and Color buttons down at the same time and turn the C6100 OFF. Keep holding the buttons down until the printer shuts off and the turn it back on. You will have to turn the printer off twice and then it will recalibrate. Make sure you have new cartiges in the printer so that it can reset.
Hope that helps.............

What is printhead failure on my HP Photosmart C6100 series printer? and how can I fix it permanently?

The print-head is the "heart" of an ink-jet printer -- it pulls the ink from the ink-cartridges, and sprays the ink onto the paper.

If the "manufacturer-warranty" has expired, it is time to buy a new unit, and to responsibly recycle the old unit.

Error message says "ink system failed". What does this mean? How do I fix this?

Hello,

The "ink Failure error" is caused by air in the ink feed tubes and is usually caused by refilled ink cartridges or ones that have run out of ink and are sucking up air. We have a step by step guide to purge the air from the ink tubes on our web site at :
www.ccl-la.com Click on the printer section and then HP. This should get you back printing in no time.

I hope this helps, if so please rate our solution.

HP PHOTOSMART C6100 All in One series ran out of yellow and for the first time since we bought it it did not give us the option to print in black only. Message says Ink System Failure...cannot print fax...

I called HP for troubleshooting assistance. My printer HP All- in-One is only 2 years old. They were very nice to run through a series of steps with me...only to tell me that "It is broken" and I will need to buy a new one. So that's my solution for today....Which leads me to the next question...Do I get another HP or something else??
