You can also emergency connect to your computers usb port. Plug in to computer with iriver off and then hold power and the "enter" button at the same time. This should connect iriver to computer in emergency mode. Then go to my computer on your desktop and right click on "removable disk" which should be the iriver. Then click properties and go to tools. under tools tab you can check the device for errors. Then you will be prompted and make sure both boxes are checked. You want it to check volume and try to recover missing files. This takes a while but it already worked once for me. Then I let the battery die and the iriver ****ed up again. I am still messing with it to see if mine can be permanently fixed. Will post if find something better.

I had same problem. On this website I read that problem is due to hard drive malfunction. I have solved my problem by doing the following. Actually a friend of mine told me he solved similar problem with his iPod this way.
1- Per indication on this website (fixya) I put device next to my ear at the time I turn ON and screaky sound was present. In my case I could hear that sound.

2- on a solid table I put a piece of cloth
3- removed batery from H10 and installed back ON (I think this is called reset)
4-put iriver h10 on my hand with screen towards my palm
5-turn device ON and immediately slap it against table (with piece of cloth in between) at third attempt device boot normally.

I figure, device was dead why not try this. In my case it worked.

Now I am trying to synch my music. sometimes it sync sometimes it reports error but music is there.

Work recovery system, it wants to access recovery options, but i cant remember password

reboot laptop and keep tapping the f8 key while its booting.
you will get an options screen, select ''boot into safe mode''.
it should then boot up in safe mode, once on desktop go to start menu>>all programmes>>and look for the acer recovery tools...ity will be their as all acers have these tools.
in the recovery tool, you will have the following options.

factory restore computer = thios will erase all your files from the hard drive and reinstall windows again, once done it will be the same as when you first bought it and took it out of the box.

or..restore windows files and settings only = this restores the windows files system so as to fix the errors that are causing problems, none of your personal files will be erased or lost and will still be on the computer once the operation completes.

i would go with the first option and do a factory reset. If you have personal files you want to keep, then when booted up into safe mode yhou can copy those files to a usb thumb drive or a CD or whatever. Once you have your files saved, perform the factory restore instalation.

Or you could just boot into safe mode, and if you get onto desktop, goto start menu>>all programmes>>>accesories>>system tools>> back up and recovery. From their, select ''system restore''...it will show a list of restore points with dates next to them. Their will also be a box unticked that says ''show more restore points''. tick that box so all restore dates and points are showing.
Then select a restore point and date about 5 to 7 days before the problem occured.
so if the problem happend on say the 7th november.....restore it back top around the 30th october.

this will just undo any system changes that are causing errors and get your pc working again without affecting any of your personal files.

if all the above fail, you will have to reinstall windows yourself, just download the iso from microsoft website
download the 'windows 7 usb tool' from microsoft website.
insert a USB thumbdrive at least 4GB in size.
run the windows usb tool and follow the on screen instructions which will then
load the windows downloaded file onto your usb drive.

once done, reboot pc and hit f12 (or whatever key it is for your model to enter the boot options menu - a quick search on google will tell you the key for boot menu if f12 or esc key do not work).
once in boot options menu..select your usb device to boot from and press enter.
windows will then install on your laptop.
once on desktop, goto start menu and eright click on ''computer''.
select 'properties'
then select 'device manager....and cxheck to see what drivers may be missing.
once you see what drivers are missing...goto acer support.cm (you may have to use another computer to do this if your ethernet or wi fi driver is missing and you cant access the internet.
once on acer website, selecter the drivers and manuals tab......it will then ask you to input your computer model number, brand, operating system.....then it will give you a list of all the drivers for your machine...now download the ones you need, then install them by opening the file and double clicking the ''set up .exe' file.

once all drivers are in reboot nachine and then wait for wqindows update to kick in and apply the neccesary updates.

I would like restore my files & system like first day...........but i cant......please help me.........thank you

You need to click on Start (which is located on the lower left corner of your screen ) > Then click on "All Programs" > Choose " Accessories " > Then "System Tools" > Then click on "System Restore" > then choose the date where you want to have your files restore

System Restore will allow you to restore your files on an earlier date provided that you have it save that date as a "restore point"

Another option is to have your important files save in an external drive or flashdrive then have your windows reinstalled to make sure that fresh and clean

Hope this help you a bit. Have great day.

It says files missing need h10 recovery tool

Hello,

When the H10 comes up with the information "files missing", system files are missing on the player for proper functionality.
The recovery tool must be run to restore the player's functions.

When not having the tool available on disk it can be downloaded from
the iRiver site, starting here:
http://www.iriver.com/flash/index.asp?code=0302
In the second column next to GO, enter the word recovery in the bar.

Click on the upgrader, to see how to perform the recovery for the MTP version of this type of player.
MTP version indicates that the firmware on the player is suited for transferring media using Windows Media Player 10 or 11.

The version depends also on the region, the player has been sold. More info for checking the MTP or MSC version, see:
http://www.iriver.com/flash/popup/flash_pop.asp?board=faq&code=365

I need to restore the system files for my H10 Iriver MP3 player

go to www.iriver.com people - what the f--- do you think it means?

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
