Clicking noise while spinning the drum

I hear a clicking noise when the drum spins. There must be something stuck on the top. How do I access that part of the washer? Thank you

Thanks for the suggestion. It came out to be a piece of metal stuck from the inside which I was able to extract easily from the inside as well; it was very visible when I opened the top part of the washer!

so taking apart the whole thing isnt recommended? it sounds like something horrible is going on in mine when the drum is spinning.

According to my Sears Repair guy, after about 1.5 years on water, the basket support rusts out and causes it to not support th ebasket any longer. He said if it is bad enough, plastic dust will get on your clothes when they are washed. It is about $1000 worth of parts to be replaced and $200 labor. Good thing I bought the extended, extended warranty. BTW, my machine is about 4 years old now. 1st time this has happened.

On spin cycle sounds like change or rocks spinning around in drum.

Could be a bad bearing or something loose on the drum that doesn't rattle until you get up to spin speed. Look for something like pins, nails or screws stuck in the holes of the drum, or possibly under the protuberances (fins) inside the drum. Does the sound occur all through the spin cycle or only at top speed?

When in fast spin there is a loud rattling sound as though there are stones in the drum

You could have something fast between the inner and outer drum, or one or more of the drum paddles is loose..
Remove lower rear panel of washer, remove the belt, and from the front spin the drum by hand, this this will show if the drum bearings are o/k.
There should be little or no noise from the drum.
If it is rumbling, or feels rough, then the main bearings have failed.
If ther is something caught, then you will hear it catching or clicking.
Hope this helps.

Maytag Atlantis screeches @ end of spin cycle,

may be something stuck in the drum or a segment raised on the motor. to test either remove the belt and spin the drum if no noise then the motor is faulty. if a noise then there may be a bra wire between the drum/tub.

Washer makes loud knocking noise

I think that the drum bearings have gone on the machine..

To open the door and spin the empty drum quickly by hand and you should hear the noise or say a less amplifed one.. You can also move the inner drum up and down to see if there is something wrong with it..
