I have the same problem. It started after we installed a digital cable box. All was fine until the power went out. The demo continously runs. When you access the menu , press ) for exit and the guide demo goes away for about 10 minutes where I repeat the same procedure. I am going to disconnect the cable box and redo the setup of the tv and hop it will auto program the channels and the demo will stop.

    wish me luck.

I have the same problem with guide plus gold. None of the buttons will remove this from my rca tv..............so what good is direct tv. Maybe, we all should report this to the FCC. I am paying the price and can't even watch the TV. If you call Directv you will stay on the line an hour and the problem is still not resolved.

SOURCE: Guide Plus Demo

I have serviced lots of these, and as far as I know the CTC203 chassis has nothing like this, nor did anything made by Thomson before or since, so I am mystified. Adjustments are made with the remote or the front panel buttons using software and there are no "pins," test connectors, switches, or anything similar present on it. Usually the Guide Plus stops working entirely (which is nice for most users, as it is just an annoyance). Now if you unplug your TV for long enough for its microprocessor to reset, it will start with the Guide Plus screen. This is by design and can't be stopped without modification. Corruption of the set's internal program causing something strange like this is possible, but unlikely. (It was a problem on earlier models). Leave your TV plugged in and see if this problem goes away. If this is not the cause, you will have to take it in for service. Any demo modes can be turned on or off with the remote or the buttons on the set.

Menu keeps popping up

If you have the guide plus feature go into the setup for it and when it asks if you have a cable box, indicate no, when it asks if you have a Vcr also indicate no. Last if it asks for the zip code enter all 9, This should rule the Guide feature out of service and you will know if it is your problem or not---it created a lot of problems in sets that had it, especially RCA or GE sets.

Guide Plus Gold service on a 2000 Zenith TV

I have an RCA televison with Guide Plus Gold and it works great. I am not sure about the Zenith and how it works on it. When I turn on the TV with the remote the guide comes up on screen. I just have to press the guide button on the remote to remove that screen and watch the show. If I don't press anything it will go off after 2 minutes. If you have never set up the guide it will probably show up all the time. You will have to go through and program it so it will know if you have cable, over the air or satelite. I don't have satelite service so I don't know if it will reconize it. I know it works with over the air and cable.

Good luck

Question?
Whenever I turn on the television, the GUIDE Plus+™ or GUIDE Plus+ GOLD™ on-screen program guide automatically comes on.
Answer:
The GUIDE Plus+™ or GUIDE Plus+ GOLD™ on-screen program guide automatically comes up when you use the TV button on the remote to turn on the TV. There are several ways to turn off this function if you wish, depending on your model.
Option A:
Select the GUIDE Plus+™ Menu from the Main menu.
Select Setup.
Select Options.
Select Off.
Option B:
Select the GUIDE Plus+™ Menu from the Main menu.
Select GUIDE Plus+™ Auto Display from the GUIDE Plus+ menu.
Select Off.
Option C:
Press GUIDE on your remote control.
Select the Menu bar.
Press the right arrow button to select Setup.
Choose Review Options.
Select Off.

I know Option C worked for me!!

Given the many TV models, it's possible that accessing control of this feature in the Program Guide menu may differ on your TV. For specific instructions for your model, see your owner's manual.
