Question about Audio & Video Receivers

1 Answer

I bought a Grundig S350DL for my husband for his birthday from Radio Shack. The floor model was the last one available so I bought it. The sales person said it was warranted the same as if new. He had it for a couple of months but didn't really play it much because we were busy. One night we decided to take it out on the deck and while he was turning the antennae around to get a better signal, the anntenae broke. He took it back to Radio Shack. Radio Shack would not return it because they said it was past the 30 day return period and we had not purchased an extended warranty program. They told us to contact Grundig. My husband called and explained the problem to a technical person who said he would mail us a replacement antennae. That was about a month ago and we still have not received the anntenae. I order things throug the mail. I ordered Front Line from Austrailia and received it after he was told the antennae would be sent and the Front Line came about 10 days ago. Then I ordered books from Amazon about 10 days ago and they came today. We still have not received the anntenae. I was wondering if the anntenae was actually sent out or not and if not why?

Despite their renouned customer service, the folks in Palo Alto do get forgetfull on occasion. I asked for a new manual and had to call twice.

Call them again. The worst scenario is you wind up with two!

Show me a pictorial diagram of a dipole antenna connected to a stereo reciever

You didn't list your receiver model number, but here's a generic picture of how you would connect an indoor FM dipole antenna to a Kenwood receiver. These antennas should be available at most home improvement stores or from Radio Shack. They cost around $10.00, maybe less.

Depending on your model, you may have use some adapters. Ask the store staff for help.

I bought a campact disc player (Durabrand; Model CD-896; made by Lenoxx Electronics Corp) which did not include AC adaptor. Now I am trying to find a matching adapter (DC: 4.5V 500mA). Can I find it on...

Power supplies with those specs are common online. Radio Shack could probably set you up with a universal power supply that adapts to all the common plug sizes.

web search "4.5V 500mA dc supply"

I have bought a Grundig 320GB/500GB freesat unfortunatly I keep losing sound from my tv the problem is with the tv. I was wondering if it would be possible to connect 1 or 2 speakers to the box to get...

TV's aren't good audio sources anyway. They usually have speakers suitable for lo-fi watching such as news and talk shows.

You don't say how the audio gets to the TV. Buried in the signal on the RFcoaxial? HDMI?

You can't just hang speakers on the Grundig.

If you have an audio system with an optical or coaxial audio input the best multichannel audio would be heard by skipping past the TV anyway.

My three-year-old Model One has started making very loud popping/cracking noises intermittently on the FM band. It can work fine for several minutes, even half an hour or so, but invariably the noises...

I found in some cases that the tuning capacitor collects small particles of dust causing snaps, pops, and drop outs. One solution is get some electronic cleaning spray from radio shack or service shop. now open the back of the radio, look for square plastic box it is transparent and you will see metal plates with small screws. On the top you will see small round holes in the plastic, attach the supplied straw and spray inside two good blasts should do it. rotate the tuning several times back and forth this cleans the plates, until spray dries the station will be on wrong frequency until dries

Need fuse size

AGC-7 is a 1-1/4" X 1/4" glass tube fuse with metal ends rated for fast blowing at 7 amps. You should be able to get this fuse practically anywhere. Including radio shack.

Grundig S350DL shuts itself off

The default mode for this radio is in "sleep-timer." You can adjust the time it stays on or you can hold the On/Off button down for a few seconds as you turn it on. (You'll notice the "bed" icon no longer appears.)
