You must have used a charger that has too much voltage and current delivery. You overloaded the power supply circuits and what you heard blowing up was a capacitor. This is a repairable problem. You must open up the dvd player and see how much damage was done. You can try to replace a few parts that will appear damaged and get a correct voltage adaptor and see if it works. Most likely though you have damaged the player beyond repair. Sorry to give you the bad news. If it is that damaged you should just buy a new dvd player. The cost of the repair and findign the parts will be a lot more expensive than buying a new player. I hope this information help you with your problem.

You don't have to rely only on the original charger for your onn portable DVD player. You can charge it using other methods: * **Power bank:** Charge your player while you're out and about using a portable power bank. * **Car charger:** Keep your player powered even on long road trips with a car charger. * **Universal AC adapter:** Plug your player into a wall outlet with a universal AC adapter that's compatible with your device. These options give you flexibility and convenience, allowing you to charge your portable DVD player in different settings.
Probably. Look on the charger for the output voltage and current rating. Unless the charge uses a proprietary connector, you can use any charger with the same voltage and a current at least as much as the original. The connector on the chargers must match. The three important dimensions are the outside diameter of the metal barrel, the inside diameter, and the length. If the barrel is too short, it may not properly activate the battery charge switch in the jack. If it is too long, it sticks out and is more likely to break something if it gets hit while plugged in.
Radio Shack has some of the more common models. Many electronic parts houses carry them also (Digi-Key, Jameco, MCM Electronics and Mouser provide good service over the Internet).
If you know the cable is still good near the transformer end, you can get a replacement cable and do a splice with solder and heat shrink tubing or crimp-type **** splices. Don't mess with "twist and tape" bare wire splicing - it's not reliable. If you go this route, you must make sure you connect the wires correctly; otherwise it will not work and may damage the player. Usually the inside of the barrel is connected to the + output of the transformer and the outside is then the - terminal. This is often marked on the transformer together with the voltage and current rating (look for a dot inside a "C" with lines going to "+" and "-"). If the output is AC, then there is no difference.
If there's no spinning noise check that it is closing completely (lid usually makes contact with something inside to initiate loading).
Alternate possibilities - check battery may not be holding a charge, charger may be bad - also if player has a lot of miles on it the motor may have burned out
I have this model dvd player and it has worked very well for over a year. Lately it has not had a picture but has had sound when fully charged. When the green light is on, it is charging. When the light goes off, it is fully charged (or should be). I plugged the wall charger directly into the dvd player and it works fine with pic and sound. I think maybe the rechargable battery is on it last legs. I am looking for a longer cig lighter charger cord to reach the headrest so kids can watch from backseat. I will be able to keep it plugged in to charger at all times. Hope this helps!

Borrow or get a cheap volt meter to see if the power supply is working. Insert one probe on the inside, and one on the outside to see what is going on inside the power supply/charger. Does the power supply hum or get warm? If not, it was probably made pre-broken at the factory in china. Either that or it's power lead has a break, it's power output jack or where it connects to the main board on your portable DVD player. -Pro Hack
Hello, Have you tried getting a new battery as they often stop charging over a period of time? You also might want to clean the contacts of the battery and the contacts on the inside of dvd player with a pencil eraser because they build up a residue and prevent good contact. If replacing the battery and cleaning the contact do not work, it will be a problem with the small electrical components inside the dvd player, either the diodes (rectifier circuits), capacitor, or transistor which will require a qualified technician to fix. Hope this help and let me know if I can be of further assistance.
Radio shack carries a universal kit with choices of many different voltage and milliamp combination. Bring your DVD player to them, and they can help find the one that best suits you.
