Question about Gateway FPD1975W 19" LCD Monitor
My Gateway 19" FPD1975W monitor is not displaying graphics properly. First it started with the icons having blurry lines beneath them and the mouse appeared to have ghosts as it moved accross the screen. If I scrolled in a window with text all the text would run together. Then the lower half of the screen became nothing buy vertical stripes of various colors. nothing could be discrened on the lower 2/3 of the screen. Anyone know what would cause that and is there any way to repair it?
If possible, try your monitor with another PC; this sounds more like a video processor problem than a monitor unless you are using it in the VGA-analog mode, then, you could have a bad video cable.
The smear can be caused by improper termination and that can come from a failed ground or shield.
Generally speaking, the kind of effect you describe can't happen with a digital interface; they cause the coarse pixelation one sometimes sees on TV sets too.
