Hi,

make sure you have enough stock in your ref. for the supplied water for ice maker not to be frozen. or if sometimes you have less supply inside your ref., then put some gallons of water and stock it in your ref. and in your thermostat steady to the lowest setting.

New icemaker will work manually, water and cycle but will not fill after it dumps ice.

Try vacuuming the condenser coils of lint. The icemaker resets and harvests by a thermostat. If the freezer isn't cold enough it may not reset for a harvest. The icemaker could also be just bad.

My refrigerator is not making ice

Check the water supply
Check if water supply filter is clogged
Check the water supply solenoid.
Check that the ice supply sensing arm is in the down position.
Does the unit try to go through a harvest cycle? The unit has a motor that drives fingers to eject the ice from a freezing tray.
Check the electrical cable connection to the icemaker
Check that water in the icemaker itself is not frozen. A heater in the icemaker is there to prevent freeze ups and also to slightly melt the ice so it can be driven out during harvest cycle.
Typically, the icemaker units have a heater coil and a fuse; check the the electrical circuit. They also typically use a thermistor that may have an open circuit (you can try to just short it out - it is supposed to open only if the heater gets too hot)

What tells the pure advantage ice maker on the electrolux m/n ew23bcp71is0 to call for water the water valve is good the tube is not frozen and the icemakr will cycle and harvest when forced to fill m

The ice maker itself calls for the water after the harvest cycle and if it is not filling then you will need to replace the ice maker since there are no serviceable part on the unit. Here is the ice maker to order.

Whirlpool ice maker ,no harvest?

Hi, The optics almost never go in those unit's, the problem is in the icemaker module itself. If you can jump it thru a fill and then no advancing thru to harvest afterward ( provided your freezer is below freezing ) it's the module. You can either replace just the head/module or the entire icemaker. For the difference of only about $50 I always replace the complete assembly. The most common one being about $150 complete, # 2198597 and this should be the one for your fridge since you mentioned the optic component's. Hope that help's. Thanks for choosing "fixya" for your fridge inquiry. Please take a moment and rate this solution if indeed it solves your problem. Thanks again and good luck. Macmarkus :)

The ice maker just stopped making ice today. It's made ice great for the past 3 years. Everything else works.

If the water pressure for water through the door is low I would check your saddle valve that taps into the line. I would next check your icemaker fill tube to make sure it is not frozen. If it is then you will need to replace the saddle valve because it is due to low water pressure.
You can try to manually harvest the icemaker by turning the power switch off-on-off-on and then pushing the lever in three times in a row. This will harvest the icemaker. If the icemaker harvests and the rake moves then its most likely still good. (if theres a batch of cubes frozen in the ice maker then its def bad.) If you get it to harvest and no water comes in then you will know its a water supply issue.
Replacing the inlet valve and saddle valve will most likely correct the issue. You may only need a new saddle valve and they only cost about 10 bucks.
Let me know if this helps _MJ_

I have a kitchen aide side by side. Icemaker not working. Purchased new icemaker (Whirlpool 4322658A) and new optics. Old optics were bad, old icemaker mold heater burned out. New optics check out fine....

Good day,
Well your savvy, so, let's do it backwards.
Pull the power plug off of the water valve, and insert both prongs from a vom meter set at 150 Ac or higher.
Cycle the ice maker. You have time, fill is at the end of the cycle.
Just before the end of the cycle you should see 120 volts for approx. 7 seconds. Don't blink.
If you do get power, replace the valve. Jumping them will not always do the trick.
If no luck, then it has to be an ice maker issue. I've installed more than one that never worked from the time of installation.
P.S. You said the water line was not frozen. It's the fill tube that runs from the back of the machine into the ice maker that freezes and is a common problem.
If you can, remove the plastic tube from the bottom of the ice maker (it's the 1/4" inch smaller of the two if you have water in the door). You should be able to blow thru it freely. If not it's iced, problem with a filter ect.
This should be done first.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Model #ed5lvaxvqoo; ice maker quite working, no water WHIRLPOOL

Due to your refrig having the ice bin on the door , it could be a little bit more difficult to diagnose . Pour about 1/2 cup of water into the icemaker . If it doesn't dump , then the problem is the icemaker . When you open the freezer door , does the laser lite flash 2 times then pause then 2 times etc.? If the lite does not flash , it means the icemaker is in the harvest mode (dumping) . If stuck in the harvest mode , replace the icemaker . If the icemaker dumps the frozen cubes , then the black fill tube above the fill cup , could be frozen , or the water inlet valve is bad . If you feel ice in the black tube ,(water valve bad due to slow drop leak ) you'll need to pull the fridge from the wall , and see if there is a plastic coupling on the tube going up to the icemaker . If not , you should get one in case of future problems . Cut the tube (or disconnect the fitting ) (if you can blow thru it , black tube is not stopped up with ice ) and turn the icemaker off . Turn the freezer setting down a number or two . Go by ocassionally to see if you can blow thru the line . This water line goes between the top of refrig and the inner liner . Bad design because if it freezes , no way to get to it . Can try hair dryer2.gif on top of refrig . I have known it to take several days for this line to thaw .

I just replaced my icemaker on a kenmore fridge #2537481240g I heard the soleniod(water valve) enage and the ice maker has gone thru 3-4 cycles but still no water? any suggestions?

Fill tube above ice maker may be frozen. Remove the fill line from the back of the unit where it comes out of the solenoid valve, force ice maker into a harvest put hose in a bucket and see if you get any water when it actuates the valve, the valve may have a clogged screen or not opening at all. If you get water, then you have a frozen fill tube
